Crockett Sound Labs, spearheaded by Joe Davey, is easily one of the best recording options for musicians in the Pacific NW. It's also a great place to go for music lessons, since Davey himself is a seasoned player versed in a wide range of acoustic and electric styles who loves to share his knowledge with others. I approached Davey because I wanted to improve my guitar chops to the point where I could feel confident starting a band. Even though I play a fairly obscure subgenre of heavy music (melodic crust punk) and a pretty unusual instrument (baritone Les Paul in drop A), Davey was able to adapt his 7-string heavy metal ax to my tuning so we could work together. Honestly, it's been phenomenal. I've learned so much so fast, and received an immense amount of encouragement and practical skills which have allowed me to play even the most difficult passages of my noisy opuses with respectable smoothness. He's even broken down some of the music theory behind what I'm doing which has been eye-opening, and has allowed me to improve my songwriting ability. I'm now preparing to make a home-recorded demo of my songs to recruit bandmates, and Davey provided a point-to-point plan to help me get that recording done with professional results and the least amount of trial and error possible. He even walked me through mic positioning for my amp, EQing, and what software to use! No matter where you're at with your music project, Joe Davey and Crockett Sound Labs will prove an asset without compare. Can't recommend enough!

Joe Davey is an up and coming name in audio engineering. I've been a musician for 25yrs and have been going into studios to record since I was 14. Davey's skill is far surpassed any engineer that I've worked with thus far. His skill with which he recorded my 3 guitar, 4 vocal, bass and drum 15 min metal composition is unparalleled. His portfolio spreads from ragtime to metal, and the fact that he is a very skilled musician in many genres and instruments makes him an ideal engineer for anyone that really wants to capture and record the true spirit of their sound. Joe Davey is A+

Joe is a wonderful person, teacher's aid, and instructor in his own right. He was my teaching assistant for a year in my audio engineering class and he was also my guitar instructor last summer. Joe is personable, comes ready to work and is great with time management and preparation. He is a great person to work with.

Joe can do it all. No genre or instrument can stop him, and he will slay whatever you put in front of him. And now that he's a bona fide, certified sound engineer, you will not only want him in your band, you want him to record your next album. A great guy, great friend, and a fantastic musician.
