Mr. Cook stepped away from the firm to take a position with the Linn County DA's Office as a Prosecutor in 2022 and continue to focus on his military career as a JAG Officer with the Oregon National Guard since 2020. During law school and after he graduated, Mr. Cook worked at Multnomah Defenders Inc. (a large criminal defense law firm that handles myriad court-appointed cases in Portland, Oregon). Mr. Cook also worked closely with two former prosecutors turned veteran, criminal defense attorneys. From these experiences, he is very familiar with the DA offices, policies and procedures in Clackamas, Washington and Multnomah County. Mr. Cook has successfully tried Felony, Misdemeanor, and contempt cases. COOK LAW also handles Wills and trusts, family law, personal injury, and general litigation cases. Mr. Cook gained significant experience working for personal injury, estate planning, and corporate law attorneys who have practiced for over thirty years. Because these different areas of law all require a strong, working knowledge of local court rules and procedures, and the occasional appearance in court, Mr. Cook is in an excellent position to offer clients excellent representation. Mr. Cook became an attorney because he enjoys meeting new people and using his knowledge and experience of the law to make their lives better. He enjoys being in court, thinking on his feet and making persuasive legal arguments to DDA's and judges. But he also appreciates time spent at the office or law library, drafting "watertight" wills and trusts, reviewing contracts, and staying on top of the latest developments in the case law. Mr. Cook has helped clients through their divorces, drafted a will or estate plan for them, and worked with others to help improve their business or defend them against criminal charges.
