Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: Many areas of law overlap so it behooves you to hire an attorney or law firm that can help you across different legal fields if necessary. COOK LAW is a general practice law firm with an emphasis on criminal defense and DUI, but capable of handling many other kinds of cases. During law school and after he graduated, Mr. Cook worked at Multnomah Defenders Inc. (a large criminal defense law firm that handles myriad court-appointed cases in Portland, Oregon). Mr. Cook also worked closely with two former prosecutors turned veteran, criminal defense attorneys. From these experiences, he is very familiar with the DA offices, policies and procedures in Clackamas, Washington and Multnomah County. Mr. Cook has successfully tried Felony, Misdemeanor, and contempt cases. COOK LAW also handles Wills and trusts, family law, personal injury, and general litigation cases. Mr. Cook gained significant experience working for personal injury, estate planning, and corporate law attorneys who have practiced for over thirty years. Because these different areas of law all require a strong, working knowledge of local court rules and procedures, and the occasional appearance in court, Mr. Cook is in an excellent position to offer clients excellent representation. He is constantly reviewing the law, meeting with colleagues and communicating with the court, in order to stay on top of the latest changes in the legal world. COOK LAW is diverse enough to help you with a variety of legal issues but nimble enough to provide you with very personable and innovative legal representation. Conveniently located at Kruse Way and I5, COOK LAW is here to provide you with personable, efficient, and innovative legal services when you need it. Mr. Cook became an attorney because he enjoys meeting new people and using his knowledge and experience of the law to make their lives better. He enjoys being in court, thinking on his feet and making persuasive legal arguments to DDA's and judges. But he also appreciates time spent at the office or law library, drafting "watertight" wills and trusts, reviewing contracts, and staying on top of the latest developments in the case law. Mr. Cook has helped clients through their divorces, drafted a will or estate plan for them, and worked with others to help improve their business or defend them against criminal charges.

Great experience. Jace was great! He really knows his stuff, and he carefully read through the signing pages aloud so we could all hear it and nod assent. Plus he sure looked the part! Gray suit, tie, the whole sheebang.

Criminal Defense Attorney

February 14,2018 The man has a desire and a fire for his trade which is law... JANUARY 28,2019, I want first say the man artist the way he takes in the input from me and his Aprentece and knows how to orchestrate the police man to admit to doubt uncertainty and foremost and he did it with eleagance. Mr jcook I come from a place where people like me get stepped on by the law always. When the cop was testifying and to watch you lead this man to a corner with his own doing.. it was epic.. you have it. You got the fire. 🔥 I am honored to have you as an attorney.. I wish I could get a court room video... it was legendary..

Brilliant! Ability to ascertain legal issues, and explain potential outcomes in understandable language. Mr.Cook is personable, knowledgable, and eager to research and flesh out legal details, if need be. Unlike most attorneys, Mr.Cook actually picks up the phone, even after hours, and takes time to ask the right questions to be able to understand, and explain legal matters with your best interests at heart.

Until today I knew of one other attorney in my 50 years on this earth. And historically, I've heard mostly negative feedback stating the primary "Financial Focus" of this profession as well as a lack of true concern for the individual asking questions. Since I have no personal experience with, or the need of an attorney, Mr. Cook proved quickly what this profession should look like. Mr. Cook is considerate, truly attentive, and provides an honest list of options for any individual considering the use of an attorney. I would personally recommend, and will more than likely utilize his services if necessary.

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Pricing depends on the nature and complexity of the case. For some cases COOK LAW gives an hourly quote, in others, such as criminal defense, quotes are given in one single amount to defend the charge(s) up to trial, and then an additional flat fee for defense at trial. Still, other quotes are contingent upon reaching an acceptable settlement or award for the client; for example in personal injury cases the client is not charged up front. Finally, COOK LAW may be retained by a fee paid monthly by clientele in the wine business, assuring them a limited range of services during that month if they need it.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Sitting down with them and listening to what it is they want. Letting them know if COOK LAW can help them and how, and asking if and when they want to proceed.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

A Juris Doctorate from Portland's own Lewis and Clark Law School. Extensive practical experience gained in the legal field before, during and after law school. Overseas legal study of Anglo American Law and the English Common Law; the roots of our current legal system in the US.; significant education, experience and training in negotiation. Experience taking multiple cases to trial and winning in Portland's downtown Multnomah County County. Experience working for and with some of the top trial attorneys in Oregon who also worked as deputy district attorneys. Over the years, they shared the insight they gained from working for the state of Oregon as prosecutors with me, and as the owner and operator of COOK LAW, I often turn to that insight when practicing criminal defense.
