Introduction: I'm happy to help you with your yard projects from pruning and moving plants, to vegetable gardens and ornamental landscapes. I specialize in Permaculture gardens: Designing and installing small scale food forests and dynamic food and flower gardens. I also enjoy revitalizing and maintaining existing gardens. Amelia helped me on a small gardening project-planting a Japanese Maple and a few complementary plants. From the get -go, communication went easily and she offered excellent ideas on how to an the small space. Working with Amelia has been the best experience. We moved into a new home that had a lot of wasted space. I wanted to do more with it, but didn’t have much direction. Amelia came for a consultation and took measurements and gave me multiple ideas of what we could do that would work for my family. Lots of fruits/veggies and low maintenance! She was so quick to show me plan with tons of fruits, veggies, and herbs, even taking into account the practical elements that were specific to our daily routines. Within a few visits, my garden area was transformed! We went from working with the front yard, to adding on three more plots of land that we wanted her to work on. She listened to our feedback and but also brought in plants that were exactly what we didn’t know we needed! Amelia is incredibly knowledgeable about what she does! The whole experience was an amazing learning opportunity that set us up for success. I also appreciated how she involved my young kids in the learning process. It became a whole family event where we were all outside gardening and learning together. Being able to grow our own food has been such an amazing experience and Amelia is the only reason for that success! My garden looks amazing. I have too many fruits, veggies, and herbs to list and they are all doing really well. All my neighbors have been asking about her services and I can’t recommend her enough. She’s always on time and very affordable. Amelia has tons of experience and that experience really sets her apart because she’s able to go above and beyond with being creative and tailoring her plan to the client. *will add photos later (if I can)

Amelia of AHGC is a seemingly tireless worker. She installed new native shrubs and fruit trees, pruned/clean out overgrown shrubs, prepared and plotted new orchard area and is designing an irrigation system. I am a retired landscape designer living with MS. As a designer my focus was drought tolerant, eco-friendly design. I wanted to find someone who had expanded knowledge of the plants and tree requirements in the Portland + area. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My consultation and labor fees are based small jobs. Some discounts will be made for larger or ongoing jobs. I also offer plant shopping services, as well as perennial and annual plant starts grown on my farm.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I start with an initial consultation to discuss dreams and ideas, then discuss possibilities and designs. I like customers to feel they are getting what they want while using my knowledge and skills to ensure a thriving garden. Most yard design jobs take 1-2 hours. I will discuss how to enact each step of the plan and offer tips and tricks through out the process. If you are unsure what you want, I always have lots of ideas. From there we can set a timeline and schedule the work and upkeep consultations.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Over the last 15 years I've worked in organic vegetable farming for 9 years, Worked in an extravagant estate garden for 2 years, installed dozens of of vegetable and flower gardens and food forests for friends and family, and I've been cultivating my own Permaculture homestead for 9 years. I've studied Permaculture systems and biodynamic agriculture along with traditional farming and flower cultivation.
