Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I have an inherent ability to transform a person or company's thoughts or specifications into documents that reflect the personality and ideology of the client. Just because there's a big, unpronounceable word that can be used, it doesn't mean its necessary to use it. More often than not (unless its vital to a keyword search) smaller, easier to use words, that are more reader friendly can be used to describe an action or process. My work, unless its highly technical and intended for a niche audience, is written in a voice that reflects the voice and needs of the customer or client. In the case of user manuals, I am able to take very technical processes and break them down so that even the most novice user can understand the steps and processes. If its a resume, or other career marketing document, the language is easy to follow and the structure flows well. Oftentimes, writers with several sets of initials behind their names are competing with others to see who can use the biggest words and the most complex sentence structure, leaving the job seeker, employer, or reader with the need to read something several times, just to comprehend a statement. I try to ensure this doesn't happen. I can't remember how many times a customer has come to me, after having paid hundreds of dollars for a resume package, wanting to know what the keywords and phrases mean. If the person sending out a resume doesn't know what it says, it's very likely that that person won't be able to get through an interview feeling confident in the presentation of his or her skills. I say keep it as simple as possible. Let the words flow in a natural voice. Use gigantic words only when necessary. If you can't get through the sentence without stumbling over the words, no matter what your personal level of professionalism, the writer didn't do the job he or she was hired to do. The end result. Whether its someone telling me they got an interview within a few days, and they'd been looking for work for a year, or a company's representative telling me the work is outstanding and everyone seems to be able to follow the instruction without any problem, it's knowing that the job I did achieved the result my customer or client was hoping to achieve.

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

I am a professional writer who utilizes a host of skills and a widely-diverse, extensive background in writing for myriad client types and industries, from technical writing to resume writing. With more that 20 years of experience and having served thousands of clients over the years, I have developed a reputation as a premier writer. Whether you are looking for web copy, an executive bio, or you need a user manual for your website or new software/application product, I can take your information and put it into a document that perfectly suits your needs. My federal resume writing skills are second to none. In over 12 years of writing professionally (for a living) I have only had 2 out of over 350 federal job applicants submit applications for federal jobs, using my resumes and supporting documents (KSAs, SNSs, Essays, and ECQs) that did not receive high qualifying scores on their applications. Those customers went against my advice and chose to apply to jobs for which they weren't qualified. With all of my resumes, I provide a rewrite guarantee. For private sector, if you don't get a positive response to your resume submissions within 60-90 days after receiving your final copy, I'll rewrite your resume for free. For public service job applicants, I guarantee a high qualifying score. This is based on my evaluation of your skills and the position to which you are applying. If your skills don't match, I won't write the resume. This doesn't guarantee an interview, but it does guarantee you will get on the list as a qualified candidate for the job. If you don't qualify, I'll write the next on for free.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Shop around. Don't always settle for the closest, the cheapest, or what sounds like a crazy-good deal. Check with more than one provider to see what they have to say about their skills, how long they've been in the industry, and if they're willing to provide you with samples of their work before you hire them.

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

A lot of people can write. Not so many can write well. As with a lot of professional services, you get what you pay for. Yes you can get someone to write a resume for $35 or $40 dollars. You can find someone who will write a 1000-word article for $10. But that doesn't mean they're going to do a great job, and it doesn't mean you're going to be satisfied with the results. In most cases, a great writer can do the job in fewer hours and give you better results. Even if you're paying more on an hourly basis, you'll normally be charged for fewer hours and get a better product.
