FAQs
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
It is very important to consider the nature of your audience and the setting the magic will take place in. Magic is unique art in the way it directs perception. I will always choose a a location that encourages audience attention and focus. Magic is stronger when the magician doesn't have to compete with other stimulus for audience attention. Sometimes that's inevitable, but it can be a very important choice for the success of the magic show, and the party! As both an award-winning close-up magician and family entertainer, I can entertain all ages equally! But I need all the help I can get! I have had folks give children a plate of food or put other things in their hands before a birthday party show. What this does is give the kids something that draws their immediate focus, so they miss much of the magic in addition to making a mess as they just can't be held responsible for guarding a drink or plate of food from the commotion that ensues from a children's magic show! Often people think the show will be better held outdoors, but outdoors is a very special environment for a magician. Often some people are far from the performer, or wandering behind ( a no-no!). Focus is also harder to maintain acoustically. I have had leaf blowers, a blimp, wildlife, pets, sap from trees, gusts of wind, rain, and hot sun reduce the power of my magic show. Outdoors can be really great with the right setting, but the best shows usually take place indoors with the audience seated close together.
