Professional office ~1200 sqft. A three day project. They did a wonderful job. Tim met with me to look over the space and a second time to pick out colors. The quote was well priced. Tim, Sam, and Lexi (sp?) came out the first day and tore into the job. I added two last minute extras: texturing a short wall and removing/replacing the wall seal on the bathroom sink. While it added some expense and an extra day (to let the caulk/texture dry), ultimately it was handled well enough that you can only see the repairs if you know what to look for. Working in the space over the first week after the job, our staff found small details that were missed or spots that needed a second pass - Tim and Sam came right back out that weekend and spot fixed every one. Concerning the few negative reviews I have read about AAWz, my guess is that, barring one of Life's curveballs, if you communicate with Tim and crew, and maintain reasonable expectations for the prep work, time, and space it takes to paint a house/office - you will be happy with this company in work and price. As to Lexi and Sam - yes, Tim could have been more up front about who would be doing the bulk of the work. But, L&S are skilled and hard working - this is their job; not a summer gig; and it shows in their work. Bottom line: This company does good, solid work. I am satisfied with the look of my newly painted office. If, however, your outlay is to throw money at a project without understanding what you are asking or knowing what will go into the job (ie - checkbook decorating); or if your non-negotiable expectation is that painters need be male; then I fear you will be disappointed.

I would highly recommend them to anyone in need of wallpaper removal, and painting,. They have an excellent family team effort and worked tirelessly until their job is complete. John, Michele, and , Joshia are very knowledgeable professional, and friendly. I don't have to hand-hold them to do what they do best. They're good with paint color schemes. They did a job well done, and very happy with their work, and will re-hire them for future miscellaneous projects. Vicqui

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is the best way to remove wallpaper?

There are several proven methods for wallpaper removal; each has its pros and cons, but some are definitely easier. Peeling is usually the least painful, followed by soaking and stripping. Dry-stripping is the next most time-consuming, and steaming the most work. The average wallpaper removal job costs between $360 and $560. The method of removal can affect the cost, as steaming takes longer than peeling and will therefore typically cost more. Peeling wallpaper off is usually the quickest method. To see if your wallpaper can be peeled off, try gently edging up a corner and carefully peeling the paper off the wall in strips. If you can’t peel, then you’ll have to score and strip it, either by dry-stripping or by soaking and then stripping. Plaster walls can withstand moisture and can stand up to soaking and stripping, but drywall should not be soaked. For very stubborn wallpaper, steaming may be necessary, which is time-consuming but effective. If you prefer not to attempt these methods yourself, wallpaper removal pros have the proper tools and experience to quickly take down wallpaper and also repair any damage to your walls.
