FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I originally got into photography while working for a Hobby Shop in Portland. I would often take photos of the events or models that customers made for the store website & social media. That grew into doing the stores videography such as commercials for social media, interviews, and YouTube segments. After a while I realized that photography was something that I really enjoyed. I was extremely lucky several years later to be able to afford to get the proper equipment and be in a place in my life that I could take the plunge to becoming a full time professional photographer.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Find someone that understands and appreciates your particular vision. Look for a photographer that produces shots in a style that you find appealing for the type of project that you are looking to do. If unsure of a style, find a photographer that can give several examples and help pick the best one that matches your vision.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
What style of photograph appeals to them the most? What are they trying to convey with the photo session and why they feel they need a professional photographer? Is this going to be realistically within the budget for whatever type of event they are planning whether it is a portrait session, a wedding, or a large event? What type of end product are they going to want? Do you need prints, digital images, a hard copy of the files? Whether or not you are willing to let the photographer use any images that they produce for their own portfolio?
