Introduction: Hello! I'm looking forward to playing at your event! I am a singer/songwriter (guitarist) from Ardmore, PA who plays consistent, solo cover shows. Playing everything from Frank Sinatra to Bruno Mars; The Beatles to Coldplay; Springsteen to Maroon 5...hits from the 50's through today; I am the perfect solution to your need for a small, acoustic act that has something for everyone! I can also provide a duo, trio, or five-piece band. "Neil offers an eclectic range of music from throughout the decades. He not only has a very strong vocal presence, but he has a subtle way of altering his voice to accommodate the song in which he is singing, so no one feels like they're hearing the same voice throughout the performance. Neil presents very well with the utmost professionalism, and with a sense of pride in ensuring he is making the audience enjoy themselves, and the client pleased."

Neil was great! He was very concerned about playing the songs we were wanting to hear and even was willing to learn a few songs if necessary. Our event was a couple’s shower/cocktail party and we were interested in light background music. Neil did a fantastic job and we would definitely hire him again.

I had to cancel due to my mother being diagnosed with cancer and Neil was very gracious and understanding. If I ever need someone to perform in the further I'll definitely be hiring him.

Neil McGettigan was absolutely awesome! We were looking at big bands for our wedding, but due to the Covid restrictions for our venue (30 people!), we decided that we needed to go with a single musician. We went up on Thumbtack and reached out to several people and Neil was extremely responsive. When my fiancé, and now wife, and I saw Neil singing Frank Sinatra, we knew he was the person that we wanted to sing at our wedding. As it turned out, the venue started to lift the restrictions (from 30 to about 80 and then eventually 120 - it was in April and then May with our wedding on May 28). Anyway, every few weeks, we would call Neil and ask if he could add people - i.e. get a guitar play and keyboardists and then a drummer and bass player and finally we asked if he could get a female singer!). Neil wound up being able to put it all together. He also took a song list from us and the band learned to play a lot of them in that two month time period. At the wedding itself, people absolutely loved the band - I mean absolutely loved them. The biggest comments that we received all night was how great the band is! In fact, not only were they playing songs on our song list, but my teenage nieces and nephews and kids kept asking the band to play some more modern songs and on the fly, they were accommodating their requests as well as some requests from our older crowd that was there. During the past several months, my wife and I have also gone out several times to go see Neil play at some local places and he has never disappointed. Neil has an awesome voice and is the nicest guy in the world and really works hard to make your day great. The price was also extremely fair and we feel like we got an awesome band for the wedding that was just as good, if not better, than the big bands that you see up on wedding sites. So, if you need a single guy, two or three instruments or a whole band with a female singer, Neil can put it all together for you and his pricing will not break the budget. He was high quality, very professional, responsive, on time at the event and great value. Seriously, go no further and call Neil to discuss what you need. I can’t really say more than Just Awesome. Neil, Thank you so very much for making our day such a great day and a wedding that we will never forget. You are the best!

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I base my pricing on my experience, value, and professionalism. I will always be fair and honest, and always try to work within your budget. That being said, my typical pricing is $150 per hour. That includes consultation, local travel (up to 45 minutes, one way), providing my own sound equipment as well as a couple of Par lights (when necessary), and, of course, my performance. If the travel to the event is longer than 45 minutes (one way), I would work it out with you to adjust the pay accordingly. As I can also provide a duo, trio, or even a 5-piece band, with which I currently sing, pricing for that would also be adjusted.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I love speaking to a potential new client, finding exactly what their needs are, and honestly letting them know if I am indeed a good fit for their event. I have declined events because I sincerely felt that I wasn't right for it, and that wouldn't be fair. I will spend time talking to you to make sure everything is completely understood, so that there are no surprises or let-downs, i.e. - "Please play this song" or "Please do NOT play anything by this artist", etc. Making your event 100% enjoyable for you and your guests is my main priority.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have been singing in bands and/or solo for over 25 years. I have worked with many extremely talented musicians, including going to California with a former band and recording an album, with John JR Robinson on drums, and Mike Post as producer. Look either of these guys up...it's impressive what they've accomplished. I play consistently...anywhere from 2-4 times a week.
