Introduction: I started my career as a personal trainer over 3 years ago when I was living in Los Angeles. I started out working at a big gym, but quickly learned that I did not like working for a corporation that saw its clients as walking moneybags. I found a small private gym and fell in love with their down to earth philosophy and friendly community atmosphere! When I moved back to the Philadelphia area, I knew I wanted the same small family feel in the workplace, and I definitely found it in Wynnewood Fitness Station. I believe what sets me apart from other trainers is that I am constantly changing up my workouts-you will never have the same workout twice! I like to integrate my love of barre, yoga, and sports fitness training into my practice, focusing on proper alignment and engaging the core throughout every exercise. Creativity, innovation, safety, and fun are what I strive for. I also work as a physical therapy aide, and my experience working in a physical therapy environment has only helped my skills as a personal trainer. I feel comfortable correcting posture, creating modifications, and developing an individualized program based on your body's needs. I love the feeling of accomplishment my clients get at the end of each and every workout, and the wonderful feeling of empowerment they get when they are able to do something that they couldn't do before. I push my clients hard, but I am always mindful of safety. Correct form and alignment are important to me, and I am careful to always make sure my clients feel safe as well as challenged.

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I became a personal trainer and health coach because nothing else lights up my imagination, creativity, and sense of fulfillment more than helping someone improve their health. As a lifelong athlete, exercise has always been an integral part of my life. I was a competitive equestrian for 14 years, a defensive volleyball player, and a midfielder on the Skidmore Field Hockey team, which during my time won the league championships 4 years in a row, made 4 NCAA appearances, including 1 Final Four appearance. Since graduating from Skidmore, I have become interested in learning about all the different types of exercise out there. I am having the most fun trying out different exercise classes and types of exercise, and my personal training practice reflects what I've learned. I became interested in nutrition during college. There are 1,000s of different dietary theories, and I wanted to know why no one can agree on what the best diet is. I graduated from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition as a certified health coach, where I learned about many of the dietary theories, and why one diet works for one person, but may not work for another.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

I have worked with clients of all ages, body types, fitness levels, and fitness goals. I work hard to make sure that my workouts are tailored to each specific client. The majority of my client base are female. I like to bring my yoga and barre practice to my training practice to build long, lean muscles and correct posture and alignment. I also have a great deal of experience working with clients dealing with or recovering from injuries. I have worked with clients post rehab, who have graduated from physical therapy but still feel they need help taking their fitness to the next level. I have also worked with clients with anything from chronic aches and pains to congenital heart issues.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Be clear about what you are looking for and what your goals are! Personal training is just that-personal! Not every trainer has the same philosophy about health and exercise, and you want to make sure their philosophy is in line with yours.
