FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Every job starts with a $75 diagnostic fee, which covers me digging in and pinpointing exactly what's wrong. If you move forward with the repair, that fee is credited toward the total cost — you're never paying for the diagnostic and the fix separately. If you decide not to proceed, the fee still applies, since it covers my time and travel. Beyond that, repair pricing depends on the device and issue, but I'll always give you the full price before doing any work — no surprise charges. I also offer a discount for customers referred by past clients, so mention who sent you.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold Apple's official hardware certifications — Apple Certified Mac Technician (ACMT) and Apple Certified iOS Technician (ACiT) — along with Apple Service Fundamentals training, all completed through Apple. Before starting Orchard Bytes, I spent years working directly in the Apple ecosystem, including time as an Apple Sales Specialist and several years as an Apple infrastructure engineer managing large-scale Mac and iOS deployments for enterprise clients. I also have a B.S. in Electrical Engineering Technology with a concentration in Computer Engineering from Penn State, which gives me a solid technical foundation for diagnosing issues at the component level rather than just swapping parts. Between the certifications and years of hands-on, full-time work with Apple hardware, I bring both the official training and the real-world experience to back it up.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Believe it or not, I've been doing this for over 20 years...unofficially of course. The first job I ever had started in middle school where I learned how to repair the very first iPhones released in order to start a savings. This has carried on to form a true passion of mine, for both repair and Apple development alike.
