About
Hi, I'm James, founder of Orchard Bytes. I'm an Apple Certified Mac Technician and Apple Certified iOS Technician, trained directly through Apple, and I spent years working within the Apple ecosystem — including time at Apple itself — before deciding to bring that same level of care straight to your door instead of the mall. I also studied electrical engineering, so when something's wrong with your device, I'm not just swapping parts — I actually understand what's happening under the hood.
I handle the full range of Apple repairs — cracked screens, battery replacements, charging ports, water damage, and more involved internal fixes — for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Since I come to you, there's no shipping your device off or losing it for a week.
What makes Orchard Bytes different is that I don't just hand your device back and leave. I'll walk you through what went wrong and how to avoid it next time, and I offer one-on-one tutoring if you want to get more comfortable with your device — new to Mac, migrating from an old phone, or just tired of googling the same question twice. I also help with data recovery, backups, and setting up new devices so nothing gets lost in the switch.
To this day, I still work full-time managing large-scale Apple systems for business clients — I bring those same standards to every house call, no matter how small the job. Message me and let's get your Apple gear sorted.

I had a great experience with Orchard Bytes. James repaired the screen on my Mac, and the entire process was smooth from start to finish. He was professional, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain what needed to be done instead of just doing the repair and sending me on my way.
The convenience of having someone who really knows Apple products handle the repair was a huge plus, and my Mac looked and worked great afterward. You can tell James has a lot of experience with Apple devices and genuinely cares about doing the job right.
I’d definitely recommend Orchard Bytes to anyone needing Mac or Apple device repairs. Great service, quality work, and someone I’d trust with my devices again.

I have to say that I am extremely satisfied with Orchard Bytes. I couldn’t access my iPad due to a damaged screen. My IPhone… that is a whole other story. A friend recommended Orchard Bytes and I’m so happy I did. James was very patient and knowledgeable of the issues I was having with my iPhone and IPad devices. I will definitely be contacting Orchard Bytes in the future if needed.

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Every job starts with a $75 diagnostic fee, which covers me digging in and pinpointing exactly what's wrong. For remote sessions, this is paid upfront and could take upward of 30 minutes, so think of it as a retainer. If you move forward with the repair/session, that fee is credited toward the total cost — you're never paying for the diagnostic and the fix separately. If you decide not to proceed, the fee still applies, since it covers my time and *travel. Beyond that, repair pricing depends on the device and issue, but I'll always give you the full price before doing any work — no surprise charges. I also offer a discount for customers referred by past clients, so mention who sent you.
* if necessary
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold Apple's official hardware certifications — Apple Certified Mac Technician (ACMT) and Apple Certified iOS Technician (ACiT) — along with Apple Service Fundamentals training, all completed through Apple. Before starting Orchard Bytes, I spent years working directly in the Apple ecosystem, including time as an Apple Sales Specialist and several years as an Apple infrastructure engineer managing large-scale Mac and iOS deployments for enterprise clients. I also have a B.S. in Electrical Engineering Technology with a concentration in Computer Engineering from Penn State, which gives me a solid technical foundation for diagnosing issues at the component level rather than just swapping parts. Between the certifications and years of hands-on, full-time work with Apple hardware, I bring both the official training and the real-world experience to back it up.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
Believe it or not, I've been doing this for over 20 years...unofficially of course. The first job I ever had started in middle school where I learned how to repair the very first iPhones released in order to start a savings. This has carried on to form a true passion of mine, for both repair and Apple development alike.
