Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I am a traditional & whimsical illustrator, with a variety of styles that lend themselves to designs that require storytelling. After studying in Illustration at University of Arts , I have worked as an Intern with the Graphic Design Department at Delaware County Community College. In that position, I worked with several different staff members to design and create advertising for school events, literary magazines, and school branding in general. I also executed various freelance projects that involved direct communication with clients from designing logos, creating traditional illustrations, to finalizing layouts for print production. These are only a few examples of my graphic design and illustration experience. While in the Navy and growing up within a large family business, I have developed a keen work ethic, a proven ability to take direction from superiors, and a strong capacity to work within a team. I am consistently dependable and understand the importance of client satisfaction.

I can’t explain how much I loved working with Alexander, not only was he fast at responding but his artwork is amazing! I shared what I wanted and he did exactly what I wanted for my novel’s book cover! I had a tight schedule for this novel but he completed the job less than a week. I’ve added my book cover photos and responses from my family & friends of the artwork!

Alex is a wonderful illustrator! He is awesome to work with, and I am hoping to work with him again. He listens, he makes appropriate suggestions, and he makes corrections to ensure that you are happy with his work. He is very helpful as well! I am very happy to have found and chosen him to work with.

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I like to say I can make any budget work! Typically a writer can expect that each illustration will begin at $50 - $150. If you have 15 - 20 illustrations and would like them created in my full, detailed style, (which is very time consuming to create), the price could be around $5000 or more. However if you would like to spend $1000 - $2000 for multiple pieces very often I am able to alter my style to a more simplified look that always comes out well. I am easy to work with on price. Just be aware that most projects that are full books will begin at at least $1000 and will take a couple of months to complete.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Typically I will receive a request for work, such as illustrations, via email or through my website. I work with the client over the email to come up with a plan and a price. Then I collect 1/3 payment before beginning and create rough sketches that I send to the client as a basic beginning point for design and direction. Next when these are OK'd I will continue to the finished sketches which are done very detailed and accurately so the client will know how they will look when painted. I make sure not to deviate too far from my finished sketches when painting. After the finished sketches have been approved I move on to the painting stage. First I will collect the second installment of the payment, them I will work very diligently to paint the illustrations according to the clients needs. After the paintings are done I will submit them to the client and, upon approval, I will collect the last installment of my payment. Easy!

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a Bachelors degree in Illustration from UARTs and A.S. In Graphic Design. I've attended SCBWI seminars and Children Book workshops. A Current member of SCBWI since 2015.
