FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I do not want anyone to think it is complicated, but please remember that each tax return is different and we cannot always give an "upfront quote" - many people feel their situation is simple, but then pull out a box of other documents that were not mentioned in the request. The same thing applies to bookkeeping. QuickBooks markets their software as very user-friendly, but there was so much more that goes into starting and maintaining a bookkeeping system that truly works for the needs of YOUR business. Let's talk about your situation to make sure my methods match your style and then discuss the cost.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am an Enrolled Agent. An enrolled agent is a federally licensed tax practitioner who has unlimited rights to represent taxpayers before the IRS. Enrolled agents are licensed by the IRS. What does this mean? I know taxes and have demonstrated that knowledge! The IRS also performs a background check to ensure I meet the suitability requirements. I not only complete all update classes each year, but I attend other webinars and classes to learn more about areas I may not work in all of the time. I am a member of a some great CPA, EA, and tax professional groups -- our meetings always involve great discussions of current issues and interpretation of tax law.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started out studying Marine Science and then pursued a Psychology degree. I was introduced to bookkeeping when working as a nanny in NYC and I loved it! When we moved to PA a major chain charged us over $400 for a multi state BASIC 1040EZ.... and it had to be completed by another office, so it was not completed in our meeting. I was very disenfranchised and decided to study taxes - I found my passion and have been at it ever since!
