FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
When you contact me and ask me for a fee, there are a few factors on my end: schedule, time, and travel, and also whether there is a rehearsal and when that will be. The counseling has a material fee of $35, if you want that. My fee is typically a "flat rate," it includes travel, etc. I occasionally perform weddings privately in my office for couples in a variety of situations, with a limited audience (less than 5 guests), and if a couple cannot afford a big wedding and wants something small and private, I will work with you.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a Ph.D. and maintain my ethics training as required by my denomination. I also actively speak and attend conferences on theology and philosophy.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I felt drawn into the ministry when I was a teenager, and developed a real dislike of the church and to Christianity in general. I kept getting drawn back into the church, despite horrible experiences of close-mindedness and narrow thinking, and now realize my call to build a tolerant, justice-seeking, and grey-area embracing faith community. I started to do more weddings because I liked doing them, and (to be honest) I needed to pay my student loans off with some extra income, and many of my colleagues who dislike officiating weddings started to send folks my way.
