He was very professional, communicative, and shaped my shrubs beautifully. He also charged a very fair price and pulled out a few weeks in my backyard without extra charge. He provided a lot of helpful tips and tricks about our overgrown weed.

Boris has such a broad range of services. His pricing was very fair and clear before he started the job and his work is meticulous. I initially called to see if he could fix my rain barrel (which he did), and asked which other services he provides. Boris ordered the part needed for my rain barrel and came back within a few days to fix it. I also asked him to mulch my garden beds. He is very knowledgeable about plants, and asked me while he was mulching if it was OK to cut back some of the plants. I have scheduled him for more work in the fall.

I've been working with Grow Our Food since 2021. Our long-term, on-going relationship that has helped me gain confidence that I could garden on my own. Grow Our Food advised us about how to improve our thick, clay-based, former-pig-farm soil and provided garden layout & design, so that I knew exactly where each vegetable patch would go and where the footpaths would be. They came back in the spring to help us weed & prepare the garden. We also have been getting our vegetable plant starts from them for the last 3 seasons and been very satisfied.

Boris was great! He didn't just show up and try to sell me something like other companies do, he took them time to listen and understand my needs and concerns and created/made a great garden for me! I loved picking fruit with my daughter last year. I can't wait to garden with her again this year. This service helped me making memories with my daughter and teach her how to grow her own food for the future 0:)

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Option #1: - We schedule a time for me to come out and do a free estimate. - Soon after the visit, I follow up with a quote. - If we decide to work together, we schedule then do the work. - Jobs $2,000 and above require a 30% deposit. Option #2: Sometimes a client may not have a clear vision of the exact work they're looking to do, but wants help in coming up with a broader vision of what it is they can accomplish on their property. For these clients, we offer a 1-hour in-depth consultation ($110), where we walk your property together, assess the site, and discuss your goals. I offer advice, suggestions, and do some on-the-fly designing.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
- Obtained a master's degree in Ecological Landscape Design and Planning. - Completed a Permaculture Design Course, led by Andrew Faust of upstate New York. - Completed the Herbal Immersion Program from the Chestnut School of Herbal Medicine.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I began my career way back as a software engineer. It was a great profession but I was looking for more. A chance encounter with herbal medicine led me into the world of plants. Herbal medicine led me to organic gardening and permaculture, then an intensive masters' degree in Ecological Landscape Design and Planning. Soon after I started Grow Our Food Landscaping.
