This business was started as a side project when the owner was working full-time in the IT industry. It grew into something far more than just a basement project, and the Mentzer Repairs retail storefront was born in October of 2010. Since then, it has grown leaps and bounds to become a full-scale electronics repair shop, a computer service, sales, and repair shop, and a small business IT consulting firm.

Our focus is on the customer experience, so people don't feel like when they need help they are 'bothering' us. We want your experience with these devices to be smooth and to be positive, so you can use technology to your advantage instead of feeling bogged down by it.

We service the following:

We also fix many other things, so if it's not listed, just give us a call or email!

    Thanks, Tim

These guys helped me out and were super nice and easy to talk to. My computer wouldn't turn on and they got her running again real fast with no charge. Will be my first stop if anything happens in the future. Big thanks again guys

Brought in our old Dell laptop, Kris called me the next day and explained that the motherboard was bad(was replaceable) but still wasn't worth the money.

Ended up buying a new computer and they helped us set everything up. Great experience! Beats Staples & Best Buy.

  • 5/5 stars

Quick turn-around. Responsive on phone and thru email. Repaired my wife's cracked iPhone screen along with my XBox Elite. All set and both running like new! 90-day warranty on repairs.

Tim has been my "go-to" guy for ALL my electronic equipment: computer, smart phone, digital camera, printer, external hard drive for several years. There is NOTHING that he has not been able to fix. He also is fantastic for computer "lessons". I would be lost without him.

  • 5/5 stars

Out of all the people we had work on our computer Tim went above and beyond what we had expected. He helped us both in his shop and at home, he answered our questions in a way we could understand. I would highly recommend him to anyone with computer issues.

  • 5/5 stars

Was recommended by another computer shop about 30 minutes away; happy to know I can find good local service in Ephrata! Brought in an old computer tower that needed Windows 7 on it and they delivered, also gave me a RAM upgrade as well to boot for under $200! They communicated the whole time about what was going on and also they were friendly and technically knowledgeable.

  • 5/5 stars

Needed data off an older computer transferred to a new one, that we bought from Staples. The new one had Windows 8 and Mentzer's not only helped us DOWNGRADE it to Windows 7, but helped us transfer our data from the old system!

    Thanks for the speedy service!

Helped fix my Alienware laptop by replacing the graphics card, promptly gave me a call after an initial free estimate. Very happy with the staff, and the price (beats buying a new ALIENWARE!).

    Thanks again Mentzers!!!

Tim tried to recover files from my hard drive. My problem was more complex than his equipment could handle but I found him to be both knowledgeable and pleasant to deal with. I will certainly use his services again when I run into something beyond my ability again.

  • 5/5 stars Computer Repair Verified Review

Great people, great service. I had two MacBooks repaired (RAM installation in one, new hard drive in the other) and Tim got them both done in a very short time right before the holidays. Very responsive to email and phone inquiries. Convenient Saturday hours.

Brought in our Xbox 360 Slim with a stuck drive tray; the manager Kris literally said wait about 30 minutes, you aren't from around here so we can do it while you wait!!!! 30 minutes later and $30 total, and our 360 was fixed! Christmas savior!!!

I've been dealing with Mentzer's for about 3 years now; never ceases to be there for me and my family when we have computer issues. Actually bought a computer from them about a year ago with Windows 7, and we've had numerous computers in for virus removals. Great team of guys, and always willing to help (in shop or remotely).

    Thanks again!!!

Mentzer did a great job! They responsed quickly with a low quote and had my item done in a few short days. I would highly recommend them.

I had a breakdown on my mac in the middle of a project with a time deadline. tim was able to take the time and help me out. I drove the computer to his shop, he went to work and had it up and running in a short time while I waited. I was able to meet my deadline. I am thankful to find a group that would help me out at a crucial time. I will be returning if I need more computer help.

  • 5/5 stars

I've been working with Tim for years. We have a small business with a variety of needs. Confidentiality is important to us. Tim promptly makes himself available to solve any technical problems that come our way. He is completely trustworthy. HIs prices are good, too!

I work online from my home office and my PC kept crashing. I didnít want to go to all the trouble of disconnecting it and taking it to a shop. I called Mentzer Repair and spoke to Tim Mentzer personally. He completely understood my situation and took over my computer by remote access (with my permission, of course) and found it was a driver that needed to be updated, which he did. I was up and running in no time and couldnít be happier with the prompt and efficient service.

  • 1/5 stars

I am the Feb 6 2013 reviewer. Mr Metzler I DID come into your shop. I actually had to ambush you to find you there and that is the ONLY reason I got my device back. If you are so honest why did you never return my calls? It was only when I called from work-a different number that expected-that anyone picked up. Screening calls of customers whose ordered you screwed up. Nice.

Decided not to go with the service as it was for a friend who decided to go another route. However, Mentzer Repair Services responded asap, was very informative, sounded very fair, and I feel lived up to it's good reputation. If I ever have a problem they can fix I will definitely chose them. Thanks

They put 2 gigs of memory in my Toshiba laptop. Did it while I waited and only took approx. 5 minutes. Very satisfied.

  • 1/5 stars

I took my ASUS G74SX in for a very simple monitor replacement. They took four months to tear it apart, give it an incorrect diagnosis, make me pay $70 for a cord, then had the nerve to tell me that the cord was not the issue and that I needed to replace the monitor. They returned my laptop with a 25% refund on the cord and gave me a destroyed computer that used to be mine. I gave it back demanding they fix it. After two months of troubleshooting I was promised a replacement and was given back the same laptop I was given before with just enough used parts to make it barely work. The monitor is still broken and I have lost four months I can never get back and spent $40 dollars to let a one star company butcher my computer and tell me it was a terrible brand.

PS3 wouldn't play or load discs. Staff replaced laser in under an hour. Total cost was $106 with a year warranty. Extremely happy I don't have to wait for the system to come back from the factory. Awesome service.

Prompt. Greeted like a customer they wanted to earn and keep.
Impressed by the Thumbtack experience as well.

  • 5/5 stars Data Recovery Service Verified Review

Excellent. They were able to repair my laptop and reference me to someone to get my hard drive data. They were very informative as they worked on my laptop and timely.

  • 5/5 stars

Tim and his staff have either fixed every computer/X-box/smartphone problem I've brought their way, at a reasonable rate, or have (on only one occasion) told me honestly that it wasn't worth fixing; i could get another one for less money. They are always courteous, honest and informative. So glad I found them in the Ephrata area!

I had a cheap USB flash drive that I couldn't power up. The IT guy at my work told me he couldn't fix it and this one is not repairable. I had some important school work and pictures, which I hadnít back-up somewhere else. After calling a couple of computer repair stores with no luck, I decided to post my request on Thumbtack. Mentzer Repair Service was the only one responding. I send him the flash drive and got a call the same day he received my drive. I was so happy when he told me he could fix it. The next day he told me that he made a CD with all the information and even fixed the flash drive. Iím very satisfied with the service I received. Not only was he very friendly, but also could he fix something that nobody else I asked could. Thank you very much! I would recommend this company any time!

  • 5/5 stars Apple Computer Repair Verified Review

Tim did a fabulous job! He knows about Apple computers and he was so helpful. He diagnosed the problem, corrected it, got the computer working and even cleaned out "stuff"! He was so friendly and knowledgable and encouraging to us. I will definitely call him again if the need arises.

  • 5/5 stars PC Computer Repair Verified Review

I took my Compaq laptop in because, upon starting, the computer would cycle on and off as it tried to start up. When I first reached out to them, they suggested it might be the hard drive or the RAM. I had tried these repairs; therefore, I took the computer in to have them look at it. I took it in on a Saturday afternoon, and they had a call back to me Monday morning. They were able to determine that it was a problem with the motherboard. I was told the repairs could be done but that, with the price of computers today, repairing might not be the best option and my money might be spent better elsewhere. Tim, the owner, gave me some suggestions for computer brands to try.

Overall, Tim was fantastic to work with and is just a real nice guy. I will recommend him to family and friends. He is knowledgeable, informative, friendly, honest, and timely. You can't go wrong taking your computer troubles to him. I am thankful for the time he spent talking with me about my computer, educating me as to what was wrong, and giving me suggestions for replacing it.

  • 5/5 stars Cell Phone Repair Verified Review

Knocked my iPhone4s off the bed, cracked the screen badly, shards peeling off. I searched the Internet for a repair option. I found this shop in Ephrata and they were awesome. Gave me an appointment the same day, fixed the screen in under an hour for the price they quoted (less than the mail away places and much less than swapping for a refurbished phone). They even gave me a deal on replacing the battery while they had the phone open.
In short, smart, reasonable, helpful service. So nice in these days of built-in obsolescence to find skilled people who care enough to fix things and fix them well.
I'll be a return customer when my next gadget breaks. i highly recommend their work.

Something has happened to this business since the other reviews were left. It is just awful. The owner is a scam artist. Promises the world delivers on nothing. As I picked up my laptop months after dropping it off I ran into another customer with similar problems. So fed up he was taking his stuff to a different company. If only these other reviews were here before I lost so much time and money.

Save yourself while you can and find a different company to help you out

If you are so honest, and you thing I am that bad of a person, why don't you come to my shop and talk to us in person instead of hiding behind a computer like a coward?

Brought in an electronic device three weeks ago and it's still not done despite several promises otherwise. Now, they are not returning calls and when I do manage to get someone live, no one will commit to when it will be done. All I get are excuses, including that the are too busy. Terrible customer service and a terrible experience. I just hope I get my device back at this point. I will never use them again.

I was able to make an appointment on their website for a time over my lunch hour. They repaired the item, to my surprise, while I went for lunch. They were able to test our game system and make the repairs necessary. It's great to have a local company that can repair game systems.
