Safe Shelter Environmental has been family-owned and operated since it was founded in 1986. Our mission has been to make the indoor environment healthier and safer. Our focus since the beginning has been on residential radon, lead, mold, and water testing and remediation services; however, throughout the years we have expanded our capabilities to include a wide range of residential and commercial services including waterproofing, plumbing, heating, and cooling.

When we listed our home for sale, during the home inspection an initial test revealed high levels of radon gas. I shopped around for a radon mitigation system and one of the first estimates was from Safe Shelter. Aside from being genuinely kind people, the team at Safe Shelter was extremely thorough in their evaluation of our home, noting concerns that no other contractor even mentioned. Communication through the process was great. Safe Shelter also offered the best prices in town! The day of the installation, the team showed up on time and let me know exactly what was happening throughout the process. Other contractors wanted to route the vent pipe up the outside of the house, but Safe Shelter proposed a solution that hid the pipe in the corner of a closet and went up through the attic. I couldn't be happier with the installation, and it lowered my radon levels well below the EPA action level.

Strongly recommend using Safe Shelter.Detailed Review:I was somewhat skeptical of radon in general, but after some research, I decided to reach out to a few radon mitigation companies to guide me through the process which included initial testing, mitigation, and follow-up.After speaking with a few companies, I quickly realized Safe Shelter was the right choice for us. They were the most knowledgeable, professional, and the most transparent about the whole process. I didn't feel like I was being forced into buying a service I barely knew about. So, after a long conversation, we decided to give it a shot.My home tested 8.3 for radon and we felt comfortable moving forward with the mitigation because of the attention to detail and their assurance that aesthetically the system would blend well with the architecture of our home (we l have copper gutters and downspouts). The team did a beautiful job, and our levels on our monitor are down to .9 as of yesterday. If you are looking for great service and exceptional care, I highly recommend giving Safe Shelter a call.

Can't say enough positive things about Safe Shelter -- being in the Housing Industry (a Real Estate Agent), I work with a lot of clients (buyers and sellers) who have concerns with radon. I always empower my clients with my preferred resources ... and have full confidence, every time, when I refer Safe Shelter. I can speak from experience when my clients don't choose to take my recommendations ... other companies will not be transparent with the initial estimate and scope of work ... nor will many other companies honor a work guarantee.If you want transparency & quality, then you're in great hands. If you want integrity & detail, then you're in great hands. Be careful with "sales tactics" from other companies ... ask for details. More importantly, just take my word for it and your health will be in great company.

Safe Shelter Environmental sets the standard for professional service.I called 1/2 dozen companies to arrange for radon testing. and Safe Shelter was the first to response to a message I left on a weekend. They set an appointment for the following day (a Monday) and had the electronic report available after the 48 hour testing window.I was very impressed with the detailed review that Safe Shelter performed of the basement area, in selecting the optimal location for the sensor. One of the company owners was the person setting it up and he is clearly very knowledgeable. He was able to give an accurate assessment of what would need to be done if the results came back above the action limit.I would highly recommend Safe Shelter for anyone who needs to do radon testing or remediation. I give them an A+++ for prompt and professional service.too bad they don't also do internet service, cable TV, car repair, etc. Maybe those guys should take a lessons from them!!
