Where do I start? John was absolutely amazing. From the initial conversation, he was professional, detailed, and very responsive. It's hard to find a reliable and honest contractor today, but I can genuinely say I've found that. I hesitated about posting because we wanted to keep him to ourselves, but Red Hammer contracting was terrific from start to finish. The work was done efficiently and beyond our expectations. Thanks again, John!

Details: I'm just starting • Repair existing structure • Yes, load-bearing structures are involved • Less than 500 sq ft • Home

We lucked up and found one of the BEST contractors on thumbs up! John is very professional, knowledgeable, detail oriented and courteous. We hired his company to install Pergo flooring and they knocked it out the box ! From here on, John is my go to contractor when my husband is getting overwhelmed. Also Im hiring him to paint our kitchen! John is an honest hard working man who is worth every cent! Thank you John and your crew who were also very professional and polite. I tried to upload pics but was unsuccessful as it has to be through google photos.

Based on the reviews of John and his company across platforms, I expected to have a very positive experience. I used Red Hammer Contracting over the summer after purchasing my first home. After a nightmare contractor experience to begin, I was confident when I then hired Red Hammer I would be in good hands. While things started off well, they quickly declined and I was left with half finished projects yet I was out the full amount as if everything was fully completed and correct. Towards the end everything was rushed, so things werent completed to the quality youd expect for the price and some other items were simply not completed. I was told I would be reached out to when there was additional time to finish items, but never was. This left me having to find someone else to redo and/or complete some of the work which is extremely disappointing and a significant financial strain for a first time home buyer.
Red Hammer Contracting's reply
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We truly appreciate all feedback and are sorry to hear the project didn’t end positively. Just to offer a bit more context for anyone reading: After your first contractor left the project in disarray (unsafe and multiple code violations), we were happy to jump in quickly and help get the house ready with the window of time we had open, so you could move in timely. Fixing someone else’s work almost always ends up taking more time and money than starting fresh, and we did everything we could to keep things moving and ease that burden. Everything in the original signed agreement was completed on schedule. Throughout the job you were very complimentary about the work (both in person and in messages), and we never heard any concerns about quality except in this review. The overall timeline did end up stretching longer due to the many additions and change orders that came in after we started. We were glad to take on every one of them and got them all finished promptly and to the same standard. On the electrical note: the rough-in work was done by the electrician you hired separately. While we were working, we discovered a 240V live open splice the electrician had left behind — we nearly got electrocuted. We immediately properly capped and secured the splice, and notified you about what had happened. We were paid in full for the original contract plus every approved change order as they were all completed. There were some additional items you had requested to be done but with all the change orders that were already added and completed it was communicated to you in advance that we had other clients scheduled out and would need to come back for anything additional. Your dad had been trying to do odds and ends throughout the project and had mentioned some of the additional items he would take on. We never want a first-time home buyer or any other client to feel added stress, and we’re genuinely sorry the experience felt rushed or incomplete on your end. Wishing you all the best in your new home. John Red Hammer Contracting

John did a small job for us in our kitchen and not only was it executed perfectly, he made the whole process easy. He responded to our request quickly, sent over a thorough quote and had us on his schedule in no time. John is friendly and professional and I would recommend him for any of your remodeling needs. He also gave us some great advice about future remodeling plans we have, which we will of course be using him for.
