We were in need of a very small tile job to repair some tile in our kid’s bathroom. I like that Jack didn’t try and upsell me and gave me a fair quote up front as well as advice to make things look better without replacing an entire floor. The whole process from first making contact to finishing the work was smooth. We are extremely happy with how it looks and plan on using Donahue Family Tile in the future. Great job!

What’s the saying?
If something can go wrong, it probably will.
And it did.
2019: I hired a contractor to remodel the 2nd floor, to include enlarging the master bath walk-in shower.
Almost as soon as the work was completed, I noticed grout cracking and falling out of seams and corners, caulking that was unevenly applied and so on.
Did I bring this contractor back to correct issues? No way.
Can’t do a job right the first time? There’s no second chance to muck things up further.
Bottom line: I never used the new shower. With all the cracks and falling debris, I felt it was a matter of time before the thing leaked, causing bigger problems on the floor below.
2026: Enter Jack of Donahue Family Tile (from my Thumbtack.com search).
I asked him for 3 options/estimates, the 3rd being demolition to the studs and starting over. The other two estimates suggested various repairs and less invasive interventions.
I went with the 3rd estimate. Better to start from scratch and do it properly.
Once Jack began to demo the existing shower stall, more evidence of prior shoddy workmanship and cutting corners was obvious.
Drywall used initially wasn’t water-proof. Tray wasn’t installed properly. The list of shortcuts began to add up.
Jack is good at what he does. He’s also patient, unflappable and when he’s the bearer of bad news, does the unenviable with diplomacy and offers alternatives on the spot.
The project went on intermittently for 2 months. No one’s fault, certainly not Jack’s.
I ordered tile that was warped and eventually determined to be useless once Jack attempted to install it.
I ordered tilereplacement. Delivery was scheduled the following day, and didn’t arrive as promised.
Once the rebuild got back on track, there were other issues from the prior installation: namely faulty wiring and concerns deemed safety-related.
Jack got the job done. I’m more than satisfied I now have a walk-in shower I can actually use and looks great, too.

I highly recommend Donahue Family tile. From the moment Jack arrived at home and covered his shoes with booties, to the end of the project, he demonstrated an attention to detail that I've not seen with other contractors. The tileinstallation was excellent and he kept the work area remarkably clean. That level of excellence at a reasonable price is worth a 5 star review. I am ready to have him do another tile project for us!
