Ever since I picked up a camera in 2012, I’ve been fascinated by the potential that a camera and lens possess. From photographing my first family session, the first wedding I helped at and even the opportunity to photograph an elopement 100% on film, it’s been an ever-changing journey that’s been a true blessing. Now almost a decade later, I’ve had the honor of serving couples in 30+ states, 4 different countries in 100+ weddings. From the intimate elopement on the coast of Ireland to the busy streets of Los Angeles, historic Boston and my hometown of Dallas, it’s been an honor to play a part in so many “I Do’s”! Cody was absolutely incredible to work with! He's very personable and works great with spontaneity. My husband and I sincerely enjoyed working with him and were so pleased with the final result. We got married in our home and I was afraid that since we didn't have some beautiful scenery or magic hour lighting that we might not get very many good photos. I was very, very wrong. Cody took so many photos of us in and out of the house that we will cherish forever. Such incredibly beautiful work and such a great guy to work with.

Cody Kurtz Photography: I have spent (literally) the last few months thinking of the proper thank you card or review I could write for this business and photographer, but I will reread these words in a few days and still think l fell short. Not because my writing was inadequate, but because if a picture is worth a thousand words, his 600+ photos from our wedding deserve a novel of gratitude. What we have summed up the best we can is: If we could give every couple a gift we think they deserve, it would be paying for the cost of their photos to be photographed by Cody Kurtz Photography. This isn't because we have built a relationship with Cody or because we really like him as a person, which we do, but it's the ability he has to capture people exactly how they are. I look through our photos often and I am blown away at how he caught almost every single emotion I remember feeling throughout the day. Yes, he was a perfect wedding photographer and captured the cake cutting and garter toss, but that's not what makes a dream wedding photographer. I look at these photos and remember the light-hearted reverence of our day. Cody captured in photo the feeling of a roller coaster stomach drop before walking down the aisle and then captured the freedom and relief it feels like when you are finally married to your beloved and floating through the reception in what felt like a glimpse of heaven dancing on earth. He captured every glance, every genuine laugh, every tear streaming down our faces coupled with the nervous laugh because we were losing it in front of everyone. He was somehow present in every side conversation, floating light trial stuck in a tree and couple sitting by the fire. He is a professional in business and deeply relational all in one. He invests fully in the couples he photographs and make them feel like there is no where else he would want to spend his weekend. He is servant-hearted and makes himself available, whether to talk about feelings or whatever someone might need his help with, completely photography unrelated yet focused and channeled in when it's "go-time". We know this from our wedding but also the from 5+ weddings we have been in or apart of that Cody Kurtz Photography shot as well. We hope this surpasses flattery and turns into others using Cody Kurtz Photography as their photographer, because that's the only way we will feel we paid it forward.

FAQs

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
You never know until you ask ;) if it’s a new kind of shoot for me, I’m more than likely going to be more lenient on pricing (eg an intimate destination elopement, a creative boudoir session, etc) but it’s SUPER important to at least start the conversation with me!
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I firstly want to hear about their shoot. I want to hear about what excites them and their own expectations for their experience. Then I love nailing down the details of the “when and where” and eventually talking about prices and packages. All the while, I’m using these questions to try to understand them more and get a vibe for how our shoot will work! If they’re local, I’m all about grabbing coffee and talking it over a nice cup o joe.
What types of customers have you worked with?
All kinds. I’ve worked for the insanely worried types to the most chill/go with the flow types. I’ve done corporate works but most of it is freelance. I have over 100 weddings/elopements under my belt and I’m slowly building up my headshot, lifestyle/blogging and boudoir client list too.
