Charles showed up on time, (more importantly, on short notice) to help finish details for my daughters new bedroom. He installed shades and sconces as well as artwork. Then he stayed and fixed a leaky faucet, a broken toilet seat and a bad switch! He put us back together again! We will definitely have him back.

Charles is by far the most excellent contractor we have ever used. Bar none. He designed and implemented the construction of our new kitchen. He either DID every single aspect by himself, or oversaw anyone who came into the house. Floors to ceilings! Anytime we discussed something and my husband or I would say, "is it possible to maybe do???" He found a way! When we decided it was time for a new kitchen, we never expected to get pretty much everything we wanted, and more. But we did. Not only is Charles's workmanship extraordinary, but he himself is THE most respectful and considerate of any workers of any kind we have ever had in our home. And believe me, when no one in our household is DIY, and we've lived here 30+ years, we have had to deal with lots of workmen! Our original idea was to change old cabinets, countertops and appliances. But with the questions and suggestions of Charles we ended up with a major remodel. He understood our greatest desires in a kitchen. And so we were able to get our dream kitchen. We are so very pleased with the kitchen results, we really really want to remodel our game room with the help of Charles of Parham Design. Soon.

Charles communicated frequently through the site, showed up when he said he would, was polite, friendly, and explained everything he was going to do before he did it. He worked quickly and efficiently. He hung a large piece of art, and we also wanted him to fix a poorly installed deadbolt. He had a clever fix of using plumbers putty to fill in the missing wood from the old doorframe, and putting a nice wrap around plate to make it look great, and make the deadbolt extra secure. He had to do some extra chiseling to make the deadbolt fit perfectly, and had the right tools to get the job done. I was very impressed.

Updated 07/02/2018 - I will admit up front that it brings me no joy to update my review of Charles Parham. I still believe him to be a skilled craftsman who does great work with a very easy going personality and loads of southern charm. But - and this is a huge but - he has continually ignored my many attempts to contact him via Thumbtack.com messaging, phone, email and text for the past 22 months. The work he was hired to do for me has not been finished. Now, initially that wasn't his fault. He framed in a closet to accept two custom made French-style doors. The guy making the doors couldn't start until Charles framed out the trim on the closet. Charles did that, and I was very happy with the results - just read my initial review. Then, based on the dimensions of the closet provided by Charles, the doors were built. In Charles' defense, it took the door guy 3½ months to finish them. I then started contacting Charles regularly beginning September 2016. I heard back from him a month after the doors were finished, he was claiming to be very busy. He said he'd try to get to me the following week. I told him I understood and to entice him to come out to my house I included a list of seven (7!) additional tasks that I told him I'd love for him to complete. And then... nothing. Until March 2018. Again, said he was busy but would call the following weekend. Nothing. All this time I'm calling, emailing, texting. Nothing. It's disappointing and I hate writing this review. In my original review (which I'm not going to edit) I suggest ignoring the 1-star reviews for communication issues. Well, I take it back. You should have grave concerns. If Charles finishes your job I suspect you will be very happy. If, you think he might ignore you once he starts, well, I'd suggest thinking very hard about hiring him. It was my intent to be fair with this updated review. I don't believe I've said anything inaccurate or untrue. Sadly, this was my very real experience working - or rather NOT working - with Charles Parham. End of updated review. I found working with Charles to be a very pleasant experience. He definitely puts the customer first. He showed up on time every time. He was organized, didn’t rush and cared about my house as though it were his own, being careful to protect the hardwood floors in the work area. When he was finished he cleaned up after himself and left no trace that he had been here other than the excellent work he left behind. Charles framed out and trimmed a closet opening to accept two French-style doors. He is the fourth person to install trim in my house in the last 4 years and only his miter joints are flawless! I won’t be using any wood filler or caulking to fill in gaps on his trim work! I found his estimate to be reasonable and just about what I was expecting to pay. He had ideas of his own, but I never felt as though he didn’t respect mine. He’s got an Old School work ethic. He was focused on his work and didn’t spend all day on his phone. So, if you’re scared away by those 1-star reviews complaining of communication problems, I say don’t be. Those people didn’t hire him and they’re worse off because of it. Give him a try. You’ll be glad you did.

Thanks Dan, Please let's be fair as grown men. You did not pay for the whole job to start with. Remainder balance was for the door instalation/obviously your not happy with that outcome. I had nothing to do with. Timing is indeed the nature of life as it is. Since I've moved on after three months one must understand. Life has been good out on the farm way deep in the woods my friend. Kinda working the land now. Again Thanks

The project involved carpet/pad/tack strip and tack removal in 3 rooms/2 closets/small hall. Charles was enjoyable to work with. He arrived on time with all tools required to do the project. The project was completed in a timely fashion and met all of my expectations. I will definitely use Charles on future projects. I highly recommend him.
