- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Lesson duration is either 30, 45 or 60 minutes. One lesson per week. 30-minute lessons are $100/month, 45-minute lessons are $120/month and 60-minute lessons are $160/month. Monthly tuition is payable in advance on the first lesson of the month. Payment can be made with cash or check.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Beginning students with no playing experience will start on a practice pad. Proper grip, stroke, reading and counting are stressed. Students will need to purchase sticks, a practice pad and method book to begin. I can supply those or point you in the right direction if you prefer. Students with some level of playing experience will be informally assessed over the first few weeks to determine their strengths and weaknesses and also asked about their playing goals. From there, we can formulate a plan and start improving!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been playing professionally for over 45 years and teaching for over 30 years. I play and teach all styles from Rock, Jazz, Latin and Contemporary drumset to concert and rudimental snare drum. I have played in many different bands, orchestras, church worship teams and musical theater pits over the years and currently do some freelance work, mostly in a jazz setting. I absolutely love to teach interested students to play the drums and make music!
