FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Normally, I apply a $75.00/hr. rate to all work, whether in the shop, or on-site in order to estimate costs. This rate includes welding wire, grinding wheels, fuel, etc that would normally be expected. Travel, helpers, chasing materials, and the like are charged at $45.00/hr. If a job requires a second, third or more welders and welding machine, it will be charged at $75.00/ hr. If a job requires materials, over and above what would normally be expected, they will be charged in addition to the hourly rate.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We like to work closely with all of our customers in order to give them what they desire. We work with new customers even more closely in order to get a feel for what they are trying to achieve in general. We will give the best advise/input that we can during planning and execution, but the customer's desires are paramount.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I attended the Airco Technical Institute (a welding school) in Pittsburgh upon being discharged from the Marine Corps. Afterwards, I served a 4 year millwright apprenticeship in Pittsburgh. As part of that apprenticeship, I received extensive welding training. During and after my apprenticeship, I gained valuable experience welding in all sorts of industrial settings: power plants, paper mills, steels mills, sewage treatment plants, bowling allies, industrial gas plants, etc.
