About

Chef Yehuriz Hernandez was born in Santiago, Dominican Republic, and raised in Jersey City, NJ. Though he had many childhood dreams, becoming a chef was not initially one of them. Over the years, he honed his culinary skills by working alongside talented chefs at prestigious establishments such as Hyatt Regency, Hilton Hotels, Eleven Madison Park, and various acclaimed restaurants across the tri-state area. Drawing on this rich experience, Yehuriz launched his first private chef business, which paved the way for opening his own restaurant, El Empanada King. He later expanded his culinary ventures by opening several other restaurants for other groups, including Rust Tavern, Gaia & Loki, and The Whiskey Priest.

Chef Yehuriz’s personal chef service was a unique and memorable experience. I booked him for my partner’s birthday dinner in the Poconos. Not only was he prompt, responsive, and professional, but he took us on a journey in time with his food. Since my partner and I were curious about it, Chef Yehuriz explained that each flavor had been built upon and perfected over years. His food carried a rich cultural history, and you could taste that in the flavors and sensations he described. He explained that all fresh and natural ingredients were used, and that was apparent in the quality and taste. The food was delicious and exceeded our expectations. Chef Yehuriz cleaned up everything after our meal, which was another huge burden we didn’t have to bear. We look forward to working with him again for future personal or work events.
