JULI is enthusiastic, positive, safe and encouraging as an instructor. She has grown up around horses and riding instruction, so this comes is second nature to her. She has shown and trained many of my horses and all of them have done very well. The clients at Appleton Equestrian are fun and welcoming. If you were looking for riding instruction or a wonderful place to board your horse, check out Appleton Equestrian.
I've been at Crescendo for more than 16 months. Originally, it was to learn to ride horses, having no previous riding experience. I've stayed because Kriss Phelps, the owner, has a passion for horses. I now own and board a horse there and have continued to advance my riding - western pleasure and western dressage - and am also learning carriage driving. My horse is also in training at Crescendo. Kriss Phelps is an exceptional trainer. She's very patient with new riders, regardless of age, yet has the skills and knowledge to teach advanced levels of riding as well. Her passion for horses and riding shows in everything she does, from her own personal riding skills in traditional and western dressage, to how well trained her lesson horses and how well run the boarding stables are. The other staff at Crescendo are awesome as well. I would recommend this stable to any rider or driver, new or advanced, and to anyone looking for a great place to board and train their horse.
I have been involved with Camp Hebron and Susan Berger for 16 years. My daughter started going to horse camp at Hebron when she was 9 and loved it. She became a Wrangler in Training (WIT) and spent lots of time working with the horses and the programs. Susan is an excellent instructor and cares about the kids, the horses, and the programming. Safety is number 1 with her but also ensuring that the kids and adults not only learn to ride but learn about horse care and management. She often gets her horses from auction that were abused and rehabs them, gives them meaningful jobs and a great home. She then makes sure they all get a great retirement home. I cannot say enough about Camp Hebron and the horse program. I would not have been involved for 16 years if I didn't respect and trust them.
Excellent communication. Quick appointment time. Went to meet, and tour facility. Very attractive physical setting of classic stables and riding rings in the country, with blue ridge in background, not far from racetrack, and short drive from Harrisburg. Excellent approach to teaching riding through getting to know the horses. Variety of breeds to gain familiarity and comfort with all types of horses with mission of horse rescue. We had 1st lesson, up and riding safely in the ring, English saddle. Plan of instruction will include western and bareback to gain broad equestrian abilities.
AMAZING!!!! I cannot even tell you how much I have learned at the Book Family Farm!!!! I was riding for a good 5 or 6 years before I came to the farm and I still learned about dressage, jumping, equitation, western games, trail riding, training and teaching!! Mrs. Book gave me the opportunity to train some of her horses for her and through that I learned what I was truely capable of!!! I grew as a rider and person!! It became a family for me!! I also learned about general care of horses and vet care through owners of horses that had injuries, even though the horse had an injury it was still amazing to see how the vet was able to help the horse overcome its injury!! I also have been able to ride many different horses with very different personalities!! I also was able to buy my first horse from Mrs. Book, I had been training him for a year and a half and I decided I wanted to buy him and take him to college and she had no use for him so i was able to work out a deal with her!!! Mrs. Book gives all her students great instruction from dressage and jumping to western games and trail riding!!! It is an amazing place to be!!!!
I recently contacted Louise through the Thumbtack site to obtain riding lessons for my 6 year old step daughter, Ella. Ella has been riding for 2 years but recently saw my father take a bad fall from his horse. She since has been afraid to ride and has lost her confidence. While researching trainers for Ella......I called several, along with their barns, and sent emails as well. I honestly must say that I did not have good results. My calls were not returned nor where my emails answered. Except by Louise. She promptly returned my emails and we had a lesson scheduled in no time. I explained Ella's dilemia with Louise and she felt confident that in time she would be able to help Ella get her confidence back and enjoy riding again. She answered all my questions and is very pleasant. Ella just had her second lesson last Saturday and I can already see improvement. Louise is patient with her, attentive to her fears and her safety......all while listening to her sing the ABC song! Ella gets to ride a darling little pony named Rusty, who she feels comfortable riding. All the horses are well cared for and the barn is clean and tidy. Ella and I look forward to many more lessons with Louise!! Thank you! Angie Raker-Reinert

The farm has a large indoor and large outdoor filled with professional jumper jumps which we love. He developed a individual plan for us and has brought my daughter up to pony jumper level. Jeff is a dedicated coach at horse shows. The farm offers lesson horses and ponies from beginner to advanced as well. I highly recommend Walders Way for anyone to come and train whether you are a beginner or a advanced rider.

Growing up, my life revolved around horses. It still does! I have been riding for as long as I can remember (since I was four). I have experience in Western and dressage but mainly focus on hunter/jumper for myself. Aside from physical riding knowledge and skill, it has greatly benefited me to learn about all aspects of horses and caring for them. In teaching lessons, I have found that the more knowledge you have to offer, the more interested the client becomes in furthering his/her own understanding of the animal under them. Lessons can be customized to suit the needs of each particular rider, whether he/she be young/older, beginner/advanced, or for more therapeutic reasons, all together. In addition to teaching people how to ride, I also have pretty extensive experience when it comes to teaching the horses themselves. Reconditioning is a constant necessity. Every time you ride, you teach your horse something, whether you realize it or not. It is extremely easy for a horse to pick up bad habits overtime. By working with the horse and showing the client exercises to do on their own, general problems are easily solved. Lessons/training prices are determined by time and travel distance.

I am very calm around horses. I earn their respect. I dont "break" horses. I work with them. I make sure they trust and respect me. Which could take a while. But that depends on them and how willing they are to learn.
