FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Hydro Scrub conducts most pressure washing work on a fixed price basis after we have met and discussed your project concerns and expectations with you! However, when it comes to wood staining, our prices can vary depending on the type of stain used. The amount of stain wood actually requires depends if it is a "coating" or a "penetrating" stain and can vary widely. When using a penetrating stain, the amount of stain bugeted for a project is only an estimate and the customer should realize they will be invoiced for the actual amount used...which may be less or more than that budgeted.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I worked in the environmental remediation industry as a licensed geologist for 20+ years and had been using hot water pressure washing equipment to decontaminate our remediation equipment before it was moved to another site/project. Industrial clients saw the washing equipment on their sites and began asking if we could pressure wash "other things" while we were at their site cleaning our remediation equipment. A new business was born!
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Our most common jobs are related to residential services. Usually this involves complete exterior house washing along with some flat surface cleaning (e.g., walkways, pavers, pool aprons, garge floor). We also do a fair amount of wood restoration, but quite honestly that has been dropping as a result of the installation of composite decks in recent years. Paver restoration which involves weed removal, sand removal, resanding and then "sand locking" with a sealer has significantly increased in recent years as the hardscape industry continues to grow. We have a very cool product which allows us to "lock" normal sand (non polymeric) in place to prevent weed and grass infiltration....it also seals the pavers at the same time and makes them, stain resistant and easier to clean of debris.
