Hiring Makeup by Mary K Engle was the best decision I made, I am extremely pleased with every aspect of my hair and makeup! I am 6 months postpartum with my first child so I’ve been feeling stressed, exhausted and ugly. For my brother’s wedding, I really wanted the freedom to just relax, enjoy the experience, yet feel glamorous. Mary was able to help me in every aspect, exceeding my expectations. She was flexible with some last minute time changes after I learned family portraits were before the ceremony. She arrived 2 hours earlier to accommodate this change, we finished by 10:30am, and I was at the wedding from 12pm-9pm. She used airbrush and false lashes, which truly elevated the vibe I was going for. Mary left me with extra foundation and lip stain to reapply as needed throughout the day, but I didn’t even need to use it! The makeup lasted ALL evening. Also, when I removed the makeup, my skin felt so soft and healthy! The hair? Also lasted ALL evening. She gave me extra bobby pins but I forgot them!!!! I was so worried about strands falling out, but they never did! She curled my hair before putting it up in case I wanted to take it down at any point, so I could still look marvelous, which I did the following day to enjoy two days of awesome hair. I couldn’t believe that my long, thick hair remained up for more than 11 1/2 hours of dancing, moving, and maneuvering baby grabs. Mary is just all around very thoughtful, professional, and truly skilled in her work. Mary was so responsive every step of the way I never had to wait more than a day to hear from her, even when she had suffered a loss in the family - she still responded immediately. My mother hired a different company (the bride’s pick) for her hair and makeup on-site, paying a similar amount, but her lashes didn’t make it all night and neither did her hair. Her experience made me even more grateful for my choice of going with Mary, as I didn’t have to worry about any of these things, plus I was able to get ready in the comfort of our own home. I could truly just focus on enjoying the day while still looking better than I ever have in my entire life, receiving more compliments than I could keep track of. I will definitely reach out to Mary again for any other formal events. I couldn’t recommend her enough for anyone trying to pick that right person, she’s phenomenal!

We hired Katie to do make up for the bride and hair for the bride, mothers , and a grandmother. Katie arrived early and was completely prepared. Mary "Katie" was an absolute pleasure to work with. She instantly got on really well with my entire family. She was laughing and joking with all of us.
She worked with me, as I was a bride who wanted colour (Mint and Lilac) and was REALLY communicative through the entire process. Answered all my questions and worked with my schedule. She sent a VERY detailed email about how the day would work.
My bridal party (4 bridesmaids and 2 moms) don't really do makeup. I'm a bit of a dabbler myself but wanted my makeup professionally done for my big day. She worked with EVERYONE's apprehension, and made sure we were all comfortable with our final looks.
I told her I wanted my hair to look like Game of Thrones characters. And she EXCEEDED every expectation I could have had.
My bridesmaids all just sat in the chair and told her that they trusted her, and they all looked FANTASTIC. We got all done an hour earlier than expected, and 4 hours before the ceremony, and still all looked AMAZING for the ceremony.

I offer large party pricing for 12 adult services or more (6 adult hair, 6 adult makeup, etc)
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I typically like to do a phone consult. If we are a good fit then a contract and deposit are required to secure the date. Typically brides do a trial 3-5months prior to the wedding day.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been in the industry for over 14 years and have sanitation training to ensure the safety of my clients.
