Introduction: Bachelor of Music in Viola Performance from the University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ 2013 Masters of Music in Viola Performance from Temple University, Philadelphia, PA 2015 Ms. Amber Reed is a violist and sought after teacher of the violin and viola living in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She has performed in concert halls across the USA, Europe and China, most recently performing and teaching in Italy at the Interharmony International Music Festival in Acqui Terme, Italy. As a young college student, Ms. Reed spent her summers studying in Shanghai, Beijing and Italy with some of the worlds most renown teachers and performers; however her principle teachers are Hong Mei Xiao and Kerri Ryan. At 31 years old, Ms. Reed is passionate about teaching and has maintained a private studio since 2014. She is an experienced teacher and currently works with 35 private students weekly of all ages and levels nationwide. Additionally, Ms. Reed contributes weekly lesson videos to her Patreon Community and weekly tips and tricks to her flourishing YouTube fan base. With the understanding that the study of music is a discipline which requires among many things, patience, immense concentration and attention to detail, at the end of the day, the goal is for you to have FUN along your musical journey. To encourage your artistic growth, Ms. Reed enjoys organizing studio trips to concerts at Curtis and the Philadelphia Orchestra as well as art museums, lectures and music festivals and competitions abroad. Since the pandemic, the studio has been meeting bimonthly for Violin Group Classes on Zoom using the acclaimed Leopold Auer graded Course of Violin Playing Book 1 and monthly for our Virtual Studio Circle Tea Party to practice playing for each other and to feel a sense of musical community during this uncertain time. These events are open worldwide for those interested in participating and learning in a supportive group setting. Lessons are centered around YOU. Each lesson encompasses ear training, proper classical technique and form, along with some music theory, and of course plenty of repertoire you'll love from the classical, folk, fiddle and popular genres. Ms. Reed works with the acclaimed Leopold Auer’s Graded Course of Violin Playing methodology and The Royal Conservatory of Music violin and viola methodologies, along with the traditional violin and viola technique books. In addition to individualized lessons and studio trips, Ms. Reed offers monthly gatherings on Zoom for the studio to connect and practice performing, group classes via Zoom, and a flourishing Patreon, YouTube and Instagram community to share her life and knowledge of music with the world. Other interests include tea (a cup of which must always be nearby!), ancient history, philosophy, mysticism, art, learning about other cultures, nature, health and fashion.
