Introduction: We are a studio based in Middletown, PA, teaching students both in-person and online who are both local and from all over the US! We offer piano and cello lessons for all ages and levels. Learn more about our teachers below. Laney Willard: director and piano teacher I am a piano instructor with experience teaching students from four to over fifty of all levels. I teach skills such as note reading, improv, and composition in styles from classical to jazz to pop. I speak both English and Spanish fluently and have extensive experience giving lessons in both languages. My decade and a half of piano instruction includes working as a choir accompanist and studying at the university level under Dr. Yu-Wen Chen of James Madison University. During my teen years I focused on pieces by classical composers, especially those by Chopin and Debussy, as well as Broadway masterpieces. In recent years I have enjoyed delving into jazz and modern pieces as well. I am a member of the National Music Teacher's Association and involved at the state and regional levels as well. I love helping students of any age develop an intimate relationship with music through the piano, to feel that they can learn to play and write the kind of things they like as well as feel comfortable playing a multitude of styles and genres. I love teaching here in Pennsylvania and continuing to share musical knowledge! Alan Huang: piano and cello teacher I've been playing piano since first grade, as well as cello since fourth grade. As a local native, I look forward to sharing my knowledge and experience with students in the central Pennsylvania area. As a pianist, I studied with a few different teachers, mostly working my way through the Royal Conservatory of Music program. I've performed with the Wednesday club in Harrisburg, and have performed with the All-State orchestra in high school on piano. Most of my piano training has revolved around classical music, although my spare time was always dedicated to figuring out pop songs by ear. As a cellist, I've been in multiple orchestras, including county and district orchestra in high school, Harrisburg Youth Symphony Orchestra, and performing with the orchestra at the University of Pittsburgh. I've also been a part of many musical productions from high school through college, as well as more professional productions in Harrisburg. Additionally, I've been a part of multiple string quartets in the Harrisburg area. I have lots of experience with performance, music theory, and music history, and I aim to create well-rounded musicians ready to take on any musical challenges in their way!

Laney is a very patient and knowledgeable teacher. She helped me so much with the classical pieces I was working on, helping me feel confident in my capabilities as a performer while understanding the theory behind them. It's also nice being able to do both lessons and recitals remotely!

I am really really choosy about who I let my children around. Laney is such a fantastic human being with a good, pure heart. Shes great with children. She is smart and eloquent, friendly, kind as well as compassionate. The curriculums she uses work well. She chooses based on what she thinks will work best with your child. For mine, she was spot on. The lessons are fun. She has the children do multiple activities so they arent just sitting still doing drill and kill the entire time. Sometimes my childs homework has a teacher part. So whatever he learns he comes back and plays with Laney playing another part like a duet. Its so beautiful, I want to cry. It really rewards his practice. Laney has good intuition regarding children as well. In the beginning, my son was really nervous and would forget even what a simple letter from the alphabet looked like. If she had said something sarcastic or questioned him, he would have shut down and it would have been hard for him to learn. But she didnt do that at all. She just told him what it was and kept moving. What a relief. We have moved a lot. I rely on reviews a lot for service providers so I tried to include info that was important to me for you. Laney is a great pianist, teacher and a good person.
