There needs to be a rating higher than five stars, as this is what Chef Matt deserves. I hired Matt for a 5-course celebration dinner for our 25th wedding anniversary. From the moment that I first spoke with Matt I knew that it would be a special experience. His passion for cooking, his desire to make it a memorable night for us and his attention to every detail resulted in a night that we will truly cherish. We will definitely be using Matt again!

I booked Chef Matt for a private cooking lesson with my 8 year old niece. I was looking for something fun and different when she comes for her summer visit and Chef Matt did not disappoint! She had a blast and it will be something that she will bragging to her friends. Chef Matt was on time and set up the kitchen to ensure that it was an interactive experience for her. He came up with a very fun menu and understood what would work for a child. He was engaging, patient and explained everything thoroughly in a way that she could understand and was fun for her. As an educator, I truly appreciated that he took the time to make this an educational experience, explaining all the ingredients and how they worked together to make an entire meal. The meal was absolutely delicious! We enjoyed every single morsel. While we got to enjoy our meal, Chef Matt cleaned up the kitchen and left it in spotless. I highly highly recommend! Thank you Chef for the wonderful meal, lesson and for helping me create a wonderful meMory for my niece!

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

    For events with less than 5-6 guests, I have a flat fee of $500 for my work which does not include the cost of groceries. For events exceeding 5 guests, I charge by the person. That number will usually remain around $150 per person, but this is variable based on the level of service you are seeking. This ranges from adding/removing courses to holding cocktail hours and alcohol pairings and carrying certain staff. In either case, a deposit is required to secure your date. This is usually in the amount of the estimated cost of groceries.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

    I handle all my inquiries by placing a timely phone call to each prospective client. We discuss the nature of the event and those involved, and that process evolves into menu consultation and creation. There is a small fee associated with this leg of the process which is deductible from the final bill should the client decide to solicit the services. I have the ability to prepare both on-site and off, and I arrive with all the equipment needed to render whichever type of service is desirable.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

    I’ve been employed in the industry for 6 years with experience in pastry as well. I’ve risen through the ranks in kitchens from California and top-30 restaurants in New Jersey, landing my first Executive Chef position before age 28.
