As a retired HR manager I've worked with lots of IT people. I was astounded with Joe's service that he provided. He was refreshing change of pace. The assessment of my problem and correction was great. His additional instruction regarding security and operating of my computer was very outstanding! Don't be fooled by the term "nerd", he has people skills and tailors his response and training to the level of the customer's understanding.

Excellent service. Went above and beyond my expectation for a fast analysis. He even came by my work because it was en-route to another job. In my case the drive is not repairable, but I didn't have to waste lots of time and money to find that out.

Joe responded to my Thumbtack request almost immediately. I met with him that afternoon and he began repairing my laptop that evening. Although we may never know the reason the system stopped working, Joe brought it back to life!! His rates were reasonable, he explained everything he needed to do to fix it and I'm happy with the results. I would, and already have, recommend Joe to anyone whose computer is behaving badly.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
$75 per hour plus parts. If the problem cannot be fixed you are not charged. Calls are left open for a week to make sure there are no surprises.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First half hour is free. We figure out the issue and come up with a plan.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I enjoy things that go "bing". Played with machines back in high school in the 70's and found a good fit. Majored in Math because computer degrees were not yet offered in the 80s. Wrote tax software (still in use today) in the late 80s. Wrote voter databases in the early 90s. Was an IT Director throughout the 90s. Got tired of the corporate world in 2000 and hung out a shingle.
