Introduction: If you practice three principals, • Remember, dog education begins with you. When you are in charge, your dog does not have to be. • Consistency is a requirement on which your dog depends. • Praise and love are the cornerstones that endear you to your dog and him to you. You will have a successful relationship with your dog. Dog training, for the most part, is all about making you and your dog happy. Club Fido trainers use dog-friendly methods, such as food rewards and positive reinforcement. We have 5 trainers on staff, each experienced in their area of expertise. Roseanne Foy trained service dog for many years. She can teach you how to remedy the above behaviors and many, many more in a group class (6 dogs or more) environment. She teaches our Puppy Obedience and Manners classes. Michele Gardner has been training for 10 years. Her Akita won a national event in Rhode Island. She also succeeded in being the number one Akita in the United States for two consecutive years. She is in AKC S.T.A.R. and Puppy classes. She does group, semi-private and private obedience classes, as well as Canine Good Citizen (CGC) classes and testing. Liz Fortna is our agility instructor. She is a knowledgeable agility instructor and a successful competitor with her dogs and handling the dogs of owners. You will experience the bond she develops with the dogs and acknowledge you need to succeed in agility. Beginner Agility is a pre-requisite in basic obedience training. This class will introduce you to the sport of agility at a more competitive level. We will teach your dog how to jump, negotiate the weave poles, teeter and contact equipment. This class will also teach you the beginning stages of maneuvering your dog through a course off leash. Advanced Agility is a pre-requisite in beginner agility class. In this class, you will build on the skills of the beginner class and learn more detailed handling to go around more complex courses. You will fine-tune your weave pole and contacts in this class as well. If you are looking to compete, then this is a great class. Jackie La Palaca run Doga Classes. Experience the ultimate stretching/relaxation dog and owner yoga from her. Doga is a form of yoga that incorporates your dog. Not only is this a great bonding time, it also promotes a healthy lifestyle. Jackie's soothing voice and manner enhances success of her classes. This is also great for those athletic dogs to keep them stretched and healthy. Joyce Bogar teaches our Cart/Draft class. This class is based on the NCA Draft Test Regulations and each step is covered by Joyce Bogar. A swash adjustable freight style harness is required for this class and can be ordered through Club Fido prior to the class. Joyce will help your dog adjust to the harness and cart. You will practice placing the harness correctly on your dog as well as making the connections to the cart. You and your dog will train in backing up, 90 degree turns, and negotiating narrow areas and gates. We also teach the tools needed for a 3-minute in sight and out of sight down stay.
