I was so thankful to find Rick! I had several different woodworkers come out to quote my job. They were ridiculously overpriced! I needed a bookcase/office unit. I originally thought I would order something from Arhaus but the fit wasn't going to be perfect for the price. Rick showed me his work and I was immediately impressed. After a few sketches he was able to design build and install exactly what I wanted. He was very professional and patient with me. I changed a few things along the way. I appreciated the fact that he thought through details I didn't even think of. (Proper draws for files, ventilation for my router, proper spacing for return vents on my wall so unit didn't interfere.) Definitely worth the money and the minimal wait for custom work.

We hired Rick to do a custom office, pantry, and mudroom for us. In all, it was a big project for us financially. We interviewed four different cabinetmakers before we found Rick. The first four were not bad, they just seemed more interested in selling a job than getting it right. Rick is an old school craftsman with a very fine attention to detail. He has clearly done this a few times. He was making suggestions and pointing out potential problems we had never considered. Most importantly, he worked with us on our budget and was totally open to a project that was "cost engineered." In the interest of transparent disclosure, the install was about five weeks later than he had scheduled. However, he kept us up to date on his production schedule and he is quick to respond to emails. I would add that the installation process seemed a little hasty and he had to come back to finish a few agreed upon items long after the project was finished. However, brass tacks, I'd hire him again in a heartbeat. The quality of the work speaks for itself.

Hired Rick for this project and couldn't be happier. He came to our house within a couple of days and understood our vision and constraints immediately. Very professional and personable with good insights and suggestions. Clearly has a TON of mill work and wood working experience, and is well priced! Will post photos of our beautiful new cabinets when installed!

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Homeowners and I will meet and discuss their project. If a sketch is necessary I will go home sketch it out and send it back for them to approve. If a homeowner chooses to hire me I then require them to sign a contract with a 50% deposit on their job. (A 50% deposit is required because the work is customized specifically for your project.)
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I learned my skills from another Master Woodworker. I have been doing custom woodworking my entire adult life.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
I believe it's very important to have a budget. When I know what budget my clients are working with I can make specific drawings for what they can afford. Verses showing them a lot of fancy extras that they might not necessarily want, need, or can afford.
