Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: Unlike most voice teachers out there, I can play piano and know the music theory behind what I am teaching! My students are seen as not only vocalists but musicians as well. As for piano lessons, I make sure the student understands what s/he is learning rather than just knowing how to read what is written. You can read the words in a book, but do you understand what the works mean? Music is all about understanding, analyzing, and executing. I make sure you can do all three! I LOVE to teach! Getting a student excited about learning and watching him/her develop into a true musician is the most fulfilling part of teaching. It makes you feel like you're making a difference in their lives, you know? I was fortunate to have amazing teachers growing up, so now I want to share that experience with everyone.

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Absolutely! Any musician who is serious furthers his/her education in music on a daily basis -- whether it is independently or with a mentor. I am always studying voice and piano. In Fall 2016, I plan to begin getting my Masters in jazz studies or jazz voice. Currently, I am studying piano with a professor from Duquesne to better my techniques and improvisational skills. I also study ear-training and relative pitch independently. I also am constantly learning new ideas from my mentor, famous jazz pianist, Geri Allen.
