Introduction: One thing that makes me fairly unique as a teacher is my diversity of interests and experience in terms of musical genres. I've found that classical training has helped me sing in the pop/rock realm just as much as the world of arias and art songs, and I know it can do the same for my students.
Also, many voice instructors in my local area have degrees in general music or music education. While one can certainly teach with that background, performance degrees like mine typically include more training in private teaching than education degrees do. Strange, but true.
Every client is different! Different voice types, levels of experience, and sets of goals all keep me on my toes.
