Chip is an outstanding voice coach. His passion for his work comes through. You can tell this is not a job for him but a calling. His techniques, his drills, and his approach to readying ones voice for singing was something my daughter had not experienced before. These are tools that she can take with her and use regardless of the song she is singing. He is positive and upbeat. My daughter has always responded to people who are encouraging versus critical. This approach creates an openness for students to listen and learn without judgment and makes them not afraid to keep trying when they do make mistakes. After four lessons she took the song she was working on and competed in the Florida Thespian Individual Events for District 9 with confidence and exceeded her expectations in her musical theater performance.

I am a singer/song writer that went on thumbtack looking for a vocal teacher to not only help me with my style of singing, but also to help me recover from my development of vocal nodules. I have never had singing lessons before and had no idea what to expect but Chip made it extremely easy and comfortable for me to begin taking lessons. Not only does he work patiently with me as we work through exercises and techniques together, but he also uses wonderful analogies and metaphors to help me visualize the concepts he tries to explain to me. I am a very visual learner so this is especially a big part in my learning process. I have been working with him on my voice for a little over two months now and I have seen a huge improvement in my voice! My band mates have also noticed a difference in my singing as well. I am more of a rock singer and Chip works more in the classical genre but he accommodates for my style very well and helps me to understand the difference between the two styles so I can adjust my singing to get the sound I want. I also have a very complicated schedule but Chip is very flexible when working with me and helps to keep me consistently working on my vocal techniques. I am extremely pleased with my singing lessons! I'm so grateful to have found a vocal coach that cares about my progress just as much as I do!

Chip is a great instructor. He works on technical exercises that improve your voice while explaining mechanics of voice that are crucial to your understanding of using your voice. He has explained things to me in a way that is completely changing my understanding of how I sing. He has also helped me see the things I do as a singer that hinder my ability to produce great sounds so that I can change them. You will get a lot out of your lessons with Chip.

Chip is awesome! I feel like I've accomplished so much in such a short period of time. I really enjoy the way that he incorporates information about vocal science into the lessons. Even though I haven't studied with him for very long, I have learned lots of things that I will take with me throughout my singing career.

Students who book monthly receive the best rate on lessons.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
At your first lesson I will walk you through several vocal "function" exercises that will be the baseline for your growth and understanding of your voice. In successive lessons I can assign learning songs, or you get to choose what repertoire we work on, from Mozart to Velvet Revolver to Katy Perry.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have earned a doctorate in vocal pedagogy and performance. I'm literally a doctor of singing! Why trust someone else with less experience? I am a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing. To be a member, specific training and requirements must be me. I started teaching when I was a graduate assistant in 2005.
