My daughters are into singing, dancing, and acting. Since they are now 9 & 10 years old we felt it was a great time to start vocal coaching. We had our first session with Chip this evening and it was everything I expected it to be. My daughters caught on a lot quicker than I thought they would so that says a lot about Chip. We are so excited to start this journey and I feel that we have the best coach to lead the way!

I am a singer/song writer that went on thumbtack looking for a vocal teacher to not only help me with my style of singing, but also to help me recover from my development of vocal nodules. I have never had singing lessons before and had no idea what to expect but Chip made it extremely easy and comfortable for me to begin taking lessons. Not only does he work patiently with me as we work through exercises and techniques together, but he also uses wonderful analogies and metaphors to help me visualize the concepts he tries to explain to me. I am a very visual learner so this is especially a big part in my learning process. I have been working with him on my voice for a little over two months now and I have seen a huge improvement in my voice! My band mates have also noticed a difference in my singing as well. I am more of a rock singer and Chip works more in the classical genre but he accommodates for my style very well and helps me to understand the difference between the two styles so I can adjust my singing to get the sound I want. I also have a very complicated schedule but Chip is very flexible when working with me and helps to keep me consistently working on my vocal techniques. I am extremely pleased with my singing lessons! I'm so grateful to have found a vocal coach that cares about my progress just as much as I do!

My daughter is a beginner singer. Chip began by educating her in regards to vocal cords and teaching proper warm-up and breathing techniques right from the get-go. He introduced her to opera-style singing, which she used for Solo & Ensemble competitions; worked with her on Broadway performance-style singing, which she utilized for cabarets, as well as pop/belting-style singing, which she utilized for school musical auditions. He is an extremely well-rounded teacher -- knowledgeable, patient, hard-working and makes working on singing fun for the student. He is always willing to work on whatever project You, as the client, have as an upcoming performance; and makes extremely good use of the student's time, creating a safe environment for them to explore their vocal capabilities. I cannot say enough about our experience with him. I feel he has taught my daughter an incredible amount of technique and skill in a very short amount of time, which has translated into her feeling more confident and well-prepared for her performances and auditions. Excellent!

Students who book monthly receive the best rate on lessons.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
At your first lesson I will walk you through several vocal "function" exercises that will be the baseline for your growth and understanding of your voice. In successive lessons I can assign learning songs, or you get to choose what repertoire we work on, from Mozart to Velvet Revolver to Katy Perry.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have earned a doctorate in vocal pedagogy and performance. I'm literally a doctor of singing! Why trust someone else with less experience? I am a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing. To be a member, specific training and requirements must be me. I started teaching when I was a graduate assistant in 2005.
