Introduction: Because of my international and cultural background, I feel like I have an advantage in my ability to approach people in a variety of ways. Everybody is different and any given challenge has multiple ways to reach a solution. I prepare a lesson plan before every lesson takes place to ensure we are covering appropriate amounts of material. Since everyone learns at their own pace, the lesson plans are individualized. I love observing the progress that my students make throughout their lessons. I am always astounded at how much I learn myself by teaching others.

Geert is an excellent teacher for anyone interested. He looks at each student's progress very personally and will find the best possible method to teach them. He has the experience and patience to teach anyone who is willing to put in the effort. His teaching is very thorough as well adaptable too. If I want to continue on with assignments outside of what he immediately gave me, he will adjust his plans accordingly. If you're not 100% with the assigned work though, he won't let that slip by. The piano is one of those things where your technique has to have a very firm base to be able to play the more difficult pieces. Geert will give you those tools you need to succeed. When you walk into your lessons with him, you will feel right at home. There isn't any pressure to perform up to a standard because each student is unique and learns differently. All of that aside, he is incredibly nice and understanding. I wouldn't want anyone else as my teacher. I'll be going to Geert for awhile.

Geert has an excellent rapport with our 12 year old daughter and we have seen decided improvements in her technique and musicality since beginning lessons with him. Geert is a natural teacher and our daughter enjoys her lessons!

We feel like we hit the jackpot with Geert. What a wonderful instructor! He is a musical genius yet he has incredibly effective teaching methods that engage my daughter and strengthen her skills. We are also impressed by his ability to challenge and encourage our daughter with his expectations and his commendable amount of patience. In addition, he is reliable, dedicated and passionate. Highly recommended!

Geert teaches our 7 year old piano in our home and I cannot say enough good things! He is patient, prompt, and peppy. He is structured, but can be silly with her. He is just the right mix of challenge and fun, and her piano skills took off like a rocket! We could not be happier. He is really a gem.

Geert teaches my 6 year old. He is so patient and knowledgable. I am so impressed! We have tried other teachers, and even the books he has chosen is spot on. My 10 year old said that if Geert was his teacher, he never would have quit!

FAQs

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yes, I finished my bachelors degree in music from Kutztown University in the spring of 2014. I have continued private lessons with my teacher at KU, and added private lessons at Temple University, where I will enroll for a masters degree in piano performance and pedagogy.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Teaching private piano lessons which I increment per 15 minutes, starting at half an hour. I prefer teaching 45-60 minute lessons though I will consider students who wish to come only for 30 minutes.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Make sure that you hire a musician who teaches not only for income, but also for the love of teaching. I look forward to the coming of every one of my students because I learn how best to approach each of them individually.
