About
Whenever possible, I shoot outdoors. I prefer nature's scenic backdrops to boring, blue studio backgrounds. Working outside, I enjoy using natural light to enhance skin tones, earth tones and make colors pop. There's nothing more eye-catching than an outdoor headshot or portrait where the model's face and hair are bathed in warm sunlight. The effect is dramatic and produces truly beautiful and memorable images-- something no studio strobe light could ever duplicate. One of my favorite things about my job is that I'm always getting to see new places and new faces. The job keeps me fairly close to home for the most part-- but I enjoy the travel aspect as well. I love the fact that I might be shooting a wedding on the beach one day-- capturing a family reunion outside a historic, 19th century mansion the next-- then spend a month behind the scenes, shooting the action, cast and crew as the production stills photographer on the set of a horror film.

Hired on Thumbtack

Nick did such an amazing job for me. He has this rare combination of great artistic creativity and high business professionalism as a photographer. He cared about getting me what I wanted with great attention to every detail from before the shooting making sure I was prepared to after the shooting picking out and working on the best photos. He gave me just enough direction and encouragement so that I was able to be more creative in my poses yet with my own personality. My photo shooting session was very productive. And I ended up having many more photos retouched because so many photos came out beautifully. I had a few other professional photography experiences; this one with Nick Belial Photography is by far the best! Amy

Hired on Thumbtack

Nick is the first and only bid I received and was very quick in his response and getting started. He knew exactly what I wanted. Nick is a great person to work with and extremely knowledgeable about all things photographic. Considering myself very non-photogenic, I am very pleased with the results of our half-day photo shoot. He captured me in a variety of settings and poses, ensuring I will have just what I need to submit to my modeling agency for my brochure. Thank you, Nick. I highly recommend Nick Bellial Photography.

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Roughly half of my jobs involve models and actors needing modeling portfolios and headshots. Those looking to become models or break into the entertainment industry require a professional images which basically serve as a resume of their best quality fashion, high fashion, swimsuit and glamour photographs. An effective portfolio has dynamic depth and range with headshot and portrait images that show the model off in a variety of locations, looks and styles. Senior portraits are also very popular as many parents and teens are not satisfied with the results of typical school photos. Senior year is a rite of passage and for many, a lacklustre, blue-background, studio shot isn't sufficient. We talk to the graduating senior and work to create a photo session that accurately reflects his or her style and interests. We've photographed seniors on tranquil lakes, at the beach, sailing, riding horses and playing musical instruments. Because of the time involved in each senior portrait session, we currently limit the number of available spots to 40 students per school/graduation year. Family photography is a favorite of mine. I'm honored that many of my clients return again and again to hire me for family portraits, holiday photos, reunions and other important family events. These days, "wedding photographers" are a dime a dozen. Unfortunately, many of the reasonably-priced wedding photographers lack skill and experience. For professional wedding photographers, their pricing is often anything but affordable. For obvious reasons, hiring an inexperienced photographer is unthinkable. I offer digital-only, ala carte wedding photography pricing to those couples who are planning small venue, outdoor, beach and destination weddings. The catch? I only cover small, intimate weddings, typically with fewer than 60 guests. Boudoir photography: For most women, taking boudoir-style shots is not an everyday thing. It's something they want to try, but are often nervous about doing. My job is to make sure you feel relaxed, sexy and completely comfortable. I've shot boudoir images for women from 18 years of age to well into their 50's. They often tell me they were nervous for the first few minutes-- then just started getting into and having fun. The session flies by as I provide encouragement and as much direction as needed. I know the best poses for a wide range of body types and strive to produce images that are sexy, sensual and most importantly-- tasteful. My favorite part-- your reaction after the session when you see your finished, retouched images.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Style and quality are subjective. Always take the time to review the work of several different photographers before choosing one. A photographer's portfolio serves as his resume. Look over the pictures he or she displays there, then decide how those images compare to your expectations. Photographers tend to display their best work-- so if the images are lacklustre and plain, you can pretty much assume they are typical of the quality of his work. If the images are well-composed, artistic and full of life-- if they catch your eye, excite you or warm your heart-- that's a photographer who's worth considering.
