FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
There are industry standards in pricing, that we use as a baseline for each job. Resources like R. S. Means provide detailed cost analysis of literally thousands of different phases of any construction project. We take their data, apply it to each phase of the project we are bidding, get the most current material pricing, and provide our estimates from that information.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Every job starts with a walk through meeting. It's a time to get to know the needs of the customer, and view the conditions of the project. After the job is estimated, a written proposal is given to the owner, and modifications and changes are reviewed. The process will continue as long and as often as needed, there are no high pressure sales. After a proposal is signed, the customer goes onto the work schedule, and a tentative start date is provided.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Experience, Experience, Experience. Construction is a learn as you go trade, especially when it comes to remodeling. I have books on carpentry, taken seminars on the different aspects. I keep abreast of current techniques and materials. But the best experience is something that you get one nail at a time on a jobsite.
