Debra has been the piano teacher for my Grand daughter Audrey, for three years. Debra's patience and experience have provided and excellent learning opportunity for her. We have taken the opportunities to attend all the student concerts Debra coordinates and have been impressed with the varied level of students she manages. It doesn't matter if it is Twinkle Twinkle or a Midnight Sonata, her students bravely present themselves to live audiences. We have watched Debra perform in varied venues from the Lobster Pot to the Portsmouth Vineyards. Each performance is different and so very enjoyable. Debra is a very encouraging teacher. She points out ones strengths, and makes one work on them. She has a very good understanding of voice and its mechanism. She is also a delightful person, so classes are always fun!

Debra teaches my 8 year old son. She has taken the effort to get to know him and tailors her teaching to his personality and learning style. I feel she fully appreciates him as a unique individual. She is very gentle and kind, has a lot of patience, and makes it fun for him. He is always very happy to go to piano lessons and often comments that he wishes they were longer. He practices without too much prompting and is making good progress. There are many teachers closer to where we live, but we feel Debra is a special teacher.

Debra Mann has been coaching me in jazz voice for the past academic year. Her approach is incredibly personalized, allowing me to focus on whatever areas I choose, while keeping a critical eye on my technique. Both of my children have been taking piano lessons with Debra for a year and a half. My children love her. She makes learning fun and they come home eager to practice piano. They enjoy it so much we will continue with Debra through high school. Highly recommend Debra!

FAQs

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
This summer, I am attending the Contemporary Commercial Music Institute at Shenandoah University in VA. for advanced training in Somatic VoiceWork. I continue with my own vocal training, traveling to NY City for voice lessons with Jeanie LoVetri.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
Music is a calling. It called me at a very young age, and it's been a great journey so far.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I mostly teach private lessons, but I also perform in concert venues with my jazz band.
