Musical interpretation instruction will be based on The Performance Cycle, an instructional model developed by the Arts Literacy Project through the Education Department at Brown University in accordance with research clearly demonstrating the strong casual link between arts-learning and academic performance.
The Performance Cycle provides teachers and artists with the framework for engaging students in a process of deep comprehension by building learning through centering on a text; in this case the lyrics of a song.
Students will also include a basic music theory, performance technique and voice placement, singing all musical styles.
CD Recordings of students voice, as well as video's of performance / rehearsals will be made and used for teaching purposes.
Students will be encouraged to write their own lyrics and songs.
Student will also be encouraged to plan and star in their own solo show here in the Theatre at Second Stage Studio.

Second Stage Studio is designed to create a warm, friendly and engaging environment inviting each and everyone who enters to become inspired; to let go and let the spirit of creativity take hold of them. We believe that the creative arts are essential elements in education, in learning, in developing, in maturing. Students at Second Stage Studio are learning to express themselves via the written and spoken word taking the shape of prose, poetry, song, art and performance. They communicate; they contemplate; they collaborate; they create. They are Student Artists. They have been encouraged to tell their own stories and they are. We are learning from them.
