Introduction: Tutor Doctor offers you a free, in your home, consultation. At that time our education consultant tests the building blocks that may be missing in the subject learning process. We do a learning styles assessment to find the best way to approach the topic. We match our tutors/academic coaches with students based on subject area, personality, learning style, and interests. Every student is taught in their own home-- one-on-one. After each session the tutor sends a report to the parent and teacher (optional) explaining what was taught and how well the student did. Tutor Doctor encourages teacher involvement and supports each family and tutor providing the best learning experience for the student. We love making a difference in people's lives. To see the happiness when a child learns a new concept, the relief when a high school student finally understands, the freedom a college student achieves when he/she doesn't have to worry about passing a class, and the joy on the face of an elder who just wants to learn something new is a gift for us.

How did you get started doing this type of work?
Raising children with a learning disabilities and ADHD helped us learn first hand, the frustration parents endure. In searching the right academic support for our children we discovered that many of the tutoring models didn't work. From learning centers which repeated the classroom education setting with their own expensive books and curriculum to private on-line tutor placement agencies where parents make a choice based on a picture and written profile to classroom teachers whose teaching styles weren't conducive to one-on-one tutoring. We tried them all. Help finally came when we discovered Tutor Doctor and its philosophy of teaching to the student's style of learning.
What types of customers have you worked with?
We can match any subject, grade level, learning style and interests perfectly. Our most common request is for SAT/ACT test preparation and help with math, language arts, and study skills assistance.
