My husband and I had Jessica photograph our wedding in August 2013. We got married in Narragansett, RI and we could not be happier with our experience with Jessica. I heard about her through a coworker of mine. I immediately checked out her website and I loved her work! We set up a day to meet a couple of months before the wedding and we talked style, ideas, photo locations, etc. My husband and I left the meeting feeling comfortable with our decision to choose Jessica to photograph our most important day! The wedding day came and I could not have been more happy with everything! Jessica made us feel so comfortable and made all of our "poses" feel so comfortable. She went out of her way to find out more about where we could be photographed and, to my surprise, we were able to take some photos ON the beach after 5 pm (we wanted to get married on the beach, but Narragansett does not allow that between Memorial Day and Labor Day). Jessica truly made myself, my husband, our wedding party, and our family feel so comfortable and everyone enjoyed the experience. Jessica's work is top notch. My husband and I were beyond pleased with the finished product and, overall, we highly recommend Jessica to anyone wanting wedding photos done at a reasonable price! Just a little extra information: Jessica is a one-woman show. If you want all the extra bells and whistles that an expensive wedding photographer provides then Jessica isn't the photographer to go with. She is a mom with a passion for photography and that passion is incredible. We truly loved the experience we had with Jessica and we cannot wait to have her photograph future milestones!!

Our family recently expanded to include a newborn little boy which prompted my husband and I to contact Images By Jess to take photos of our family. Jessica made the experience comfortable from the very beginning. Jess is amazingly creative about the areas used to take photos. These spaces accurately reflect the needs of the subjects. As many know, preparing your family for photos can be a stressful experience. In addition to the new baby we have a 6 year old son who can be quite shy. Jessica was able to capture meaningful, emotional photos while advising when to tickle the 6 year old to encourage cooperation and when to take out/ put in the newborn's pacifier to keep him calm and attentive. Jessica leaves you feeling free as she organizes the experience. You are given the opportunity to connect to the experience rather than smiling a tight, anxious smile as you attend to your family. Jessica's photos demonstrate the relaxed feeling she projects to her clients and as a result look wonderful when complete. The photos capture the happiness that we see at moments in our interactions with our children that folks are hoping the world will see in their family photos. My husband and I plan to use Images by Jess to capture ongoing important family moments as well as yearly family photos. Thank you Jess.... We had a great time:)

FAQs

How did you get started doing this type of work?
I was part of the Wickford Art Gallery's, Photographic Arts Group a few years ago. I participated in two art shows and competed in other Group competitions winning first place here and there along the way. I was, also, a liaison between a local newspaper and our Photographic Arts Group organizing different themes for features in the paper. I was featured twice and I also won first place in Yankee Magazine's 2011 Fall Photo Contest. I had discovered a love and an eye for photography and others were starting to see my work.
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I am a freelance photographer for the University of Rhode Island. I had to go through a rigorous portfolio process through the State of Rhode Island. I was selected and I'm able to bid and photograph different events at the College. I'm also mentoring high school students for their Senior Photography Projects.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
You have to really love the photographer's work and you need to feel comfortable with that person. Please don't shop for the lowest price. You need to make a connection. Photography is very personal.
