About
I am one of few Certified Professional Dog Trainers in the state of RI. Dog training is an unregulated industry, so acquiring this accreditation demonstrates that I have a comprehensive working background and a thorough understanding of animal behavior, learning theory, behavior modification, training protocols, handling, and more. I am deeply committed to obtaining the most current animal behavior research available to ensure that everything I do is humane, effective, and scientifically-sound. While I'm certainly a 'dog person', I love people, too! One of the best things about my job is hearing from owners who tell me about how I have improved their quality of life somehow. Nothing brings a smile to my face like a text message to say that I have helped someone to feel less stressed out or overwhelmed by their pet's behavior, or that I have made their lives easier somehow -- whether it is by having a lifestyle that is less chaotic or disrupted, or a pet who is has become more confident and well-behaved in public. It doesn't matter what a client's particular training goal may be... I will be psyched to help them reach it!

Katy was so sweet to our new puppy Rylie. Even though we are not new puppy owners, it was so helpful to really understand how to control their behaviors from a young age. She was very patient when sharing information on proper techniques to practice on a daily basis. I would highly recommend a few of the trainings to be one on one so you can ask questions and she can see your dogs training opportunities for future training sessions.

Katy has been an AMAZING trainer, she has been training my golden retriever puppy to be my service dog. He has learned so much in just a few short weeks. I have nothing but positive feedback for Katy. Incredible trainer that I look forward to continuing working with!

Return messages. Provide a face to face free consultation to discuss methods and treatment - meet the dog and owners. Act in a professional business manner. Do not recommend trying to schedule training sessions

FAQs

  • Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

One which comes to mind is a pittie mix who came to me in August of 2016 with severe on-leash reactivity. She had been attacked at a dog park, and after that would bark and growl at dogs from virtually any distance. After a few months of working with her owner she had tremendously improved. I ended up becoming close with her owner, who in turn became my training apprentice, and the aforementioned reactive dog is now so comfortable with others that she routinely attends training sessions as a demo or decoy dog. 😊
