Introduction: I am a trained classical guitarist that can perform all styles of music genres. I currently reside in Beaufort SC. I'm able to played by ear or sight read music. I have a well balanced and understanding of the guitar and it's history and music Theory while continue to performed for several weddings, dignitaries, country clubs, concerts and at Jazz and classical festivals. I enjoyed sharing music with others and teaching my students the best way how to play the guitar. What the students do not realized how important it is to learn solid techniques. I know their insight is to just to start off learning chords and riffs, however the student will become frustrated after awhile. To avoid this there are finger exercises that needs to be develop in order to play chords and riffs successfully. Starting off playing chords will do you more harm in short and long run. If a beginning student is unable to placed one finger down, trying to move two or three fingers at once could be very discouraging. This is why I enjoy teaching so that my students will be able to play with easy and confidence and most of all with great enjoyment

Best decision was deciding to take the initiative to take guitar lessons with John. John’s teaching methods have allowed me to play in a way that I never thought I could play. I’ve been exposed to different genres and styles that have amplified my love for the guitar and music in general. Not only is John also very patient and motivating but very knowledgeable and talented. I couldn’t of asked for a better teacher!

I've been taking classical guitar lessons with John for almost 5 months now, and I look forward to every single lesson. John is a patient, encouraging, and very knowledgeable teacher, and I feel like he really tailors each lesson to his student. I've enjoyed every song I've learned with him - and sometimes he plays tidbits from other genres that I end up wanting to learn as well! He emphasizes technique and fundamentals for sustainable long-term guitar-playing (as a classically trained pianist, this is exactly what I'm looking for!) and always keeps things fun :)

I would give John 10 stars if I could! He is incredibly patient, kind, and an excellent guitar teacher. I’m 30 years old and am a brand new guitar student trying to play for the first time. From day one, John has taken the time and care to teach me very specific nuances for how to hold and play guitar. I’ve only had a few lessons so far, but I feel I’ve already come a long way. John is always very encouraging and I’m always looking forward to my next lesson with him. Thank you John! 🙌

John is an amazing instructor. He is super friendly and always supportive. if I struggle with something, he understands what it is I need to do different or how to work on it to get better in the long run. I would highly recommend John to anyone interested in learning guitar. He is very flexible with scheduling and is quick to respond always.
