- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Maternity, Family, Children, Senior photos, Portrait (45 minutes to 1.5 hours): Base Price-$200 Newborn (approximately 2 hours): $350 Wedding: Most Popular Package- $1,000 (Includes complete event: decorations, pre wedding getting ready, first look w father, around the corner touch but no see with bride and groom, ceremony, Formal family and wedding party photos, bride and groom mini session, and reception events/candids. Bonus: Thank You card design. My fees cover how long it takes to get the photos YOU want. Trust me.. this works in your favor. After many wedding and family photography sessions I've learned that capturing the moments my clients want captured is more important than stressing about time constraints. When I quote a wedding this is especially true. Every bride should have her day and ALL the magical moments captured. The price I agree to covers YOUR day rather than my hours. This is not typical in the photography world. I do what I do because I love making memories for people, so I don't stress or charge for some extra time.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Being a person who has never viewed myself as very photogenic I completely appreciate the fact that many people are a little terrified of pictures! When I work with customers I am always very cognizant of the fact that not everybody knows what to do during a photo session. I always try to give my customer specific suggestions and guide them through the process rather than simply asking them to stand and smile. I also send out welcome guides to my customers to help them prepare for their photo session. It has helpful tips on what to expect during the session as well as photography tips for clothes, colors that are the most complimentary, and location. The purpose is for the customer to feel at ease and to enjoy their session rather than to be stressed out. I will often ask customers to send me Pinterest pictures or other photos that they have found that they love! I think everybody has in their mind a picture (pardon the pun!) of that perfect photo. I want to find out what that is for each person and help them to achieve it for themselves. My greatest joy is when my customers get their photos and the response to me is, "I LOVE THEM!!" It makes my heart swell because it's so important for people to know that every person is beautiful inside and out. Finally you will have FUN during your photo session! That is essential to fabulous photos.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
A very talented photographer and friend watched me post camera pics for years while trying to talk me in to being a "real" photographer. I kept taking cell pics for fun. She finally bought me a camera and said, more loudly, YOU ARE GOOD AT THIS SO GO DO IT!" And I did. She passed away suddenly this past year and I will forever miss her friendship and encouragement to chase dreams.
