What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I have a standard price sheet for all items , packages are often created. Price sheet is available at my studio at anytime for your review. I usually provide a written estimate based on my closest package and then we adjust specialty requests from there.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First we will have an initial consultation where we will then discuss your special event and what your needs and desires may be. Then we will come up with a plan of action to turn it into reality.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Finance/Banking was my major, this allows me to understand how to manage money, which allows me to assist you in using your money wisely when you plan your event. (Look at my newspaper article on my website from last years Bridal Section in the KC Current)
Management was my minor I plan, manage and organize events big and small. (Look at my website, you will see everything from kids parties to Bridal Expos)
Technical Software App Specialist....what does this mean. It means I do graphics, make slideshows, movies, etc. Which also means we have Projector, Screen, GOBO, Onsite Monitors for display, not to mention we have an On Staff DJ that does lighting and effects.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
My very 1st event was for my daughters daycare almost 10 years ago. They had a program and I assisted in the creation of a raised model runway. I decorated it with runway lights and a few other items for the performance. The next event was for her Girl Scout Troop. At that point I was hooked. I was also instructing dance and sewing all the girls costumes myself. So it was just a natural progression to put it all together as a full service event planner.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with all types of customers. Small personalized 2 person honeymoon suite, 250 guest Weddings and Receptions, Community Organizations for Non Profit Festivals and Kids Activities, Multiple County offices from the School District, the Fine Arts Center, to Recreation Department, Local Arena. Social Clubs and Organizations. We do events big and small, indoors and outdoors. We work with everyone.
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
There have been so many wonderful people that I have met in doing events and I enjoy creating all the rooms you see on my website. The best was the Bridal Expo, I personally planned that for a year and was able to get 25 businesses together to showcase their goods. I also included a fashion show, local dance school performances, live jazz performer and live DJ. It took 9 months to execute
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I don't have advice each planner is different and works differently. Just as each client is special. I believe the most important thing is to feel comfortable with your planner
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
* ENOUGH TIME: Most important thing is to allow yourself enough time. Beautiful Events take planning are you allowing enough time for the look you want?
* BUDGETING: Take a realistic look at what you want versus what your budget will allow. Yes, you can surf the web forever and never get bored looking at images of decorations but is it in your budget?
* COMMUNICATION: It is very important to talk with your planner and advise of any changes along the way.
