There are many excellent photographers around but my specialty is teaching photography - turning good photographers into great photographers. I have developed the tools and audiovisuals to make the concepts easy to conceptualize and digest. Making sure that my customers (students) learn and progress in photography is therapeutic for me! I great enjoyed our time together on the one on one lesson I had with you. You made me feel comfortable and explained everything very clearly to me. I only wish we could have covered more new material. My lesson with you mainly confirmed concept I already had understanding of. I feel I was not clear on what I wanted to learn and this is possibly why the material was slightly redundant. I hope to return for future lessons as I do have interest in seeking a career in photography and feel you can assist me on that quest.

Manny Gaetán is presently instructing about 20 plus "senior students" on basic aspects of digital photography. The class ranges widely in terms of the sophistication of camera equipment owned by the students as well as their prior knowledge of photography. Mr. Gaetan has been able to address these various levels very skillfully and patiently. His curriculum is thoughtfully and methodically organized and presented, with a combination of PowerPoint presentations, lectures, and question & answer opportunities. He does a very good job at teaching what elements comprise a successful photo, addressing both the technical aspects and the more subjective, artistic components. He is genuinely interested in improving the photographic skills of each student, regardless of their skill level. His comments on the photos which students have submitted are very helpful. He has also illustrated how such editing software as Photoshop can enhance an original photograph. I expect to be a more discriminating photographer in the future due to what I have learned and also to go beyond using just the "auto" setting on my camera!

I have the good fortune of participating in Manny Gaetans digital photography class at the Lourie Center in Columbia. The course is geared toward amateur photographers, beginning with a request for students to submit the type of camera we use so that the instructor knows our equipment capabilities. The following sessions have been loaded with dynamic power point presentations, practical suggestions for composing photos and operating the camera/camera settings, and one on one critique of student photo submittals all to assist students in achieving his stated mission of helping us with "making good photos into excellent photos. Very nice experience for me!

Manny was extremely knowledgable about photography and different editing software. He allowed me the opportunity to push myself and try new things. Manny introduced me to some of his collegues and friends who are using their photography skills across different industries, which helped me to see how I can turn this hobby into a career.

How did you get started doing this type of work?
My love of photography started while I was in high school as one of the yearbook photographers. Later in my professional life, I switched from engineering to journalist and a camera is a basic tool that I carried with me all over the world capturing images.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I teach my customers how to use all the features of their digital cameras; when and why to use the different settings.
