Robert is an honest soft spoken businessman. He gave me a quote and finished early and didn’t add on any extras. I bought an older home to retire in that needed a fresh coat of paint. Luckily he was able to get it done before I moved anything in. I would definitely use his services again. The back deck and front porch are next on my to do list. Thumbtack is making the job of finding contractors easy.

EXCEPTIONALLY POSITIVE EXPERIENCE We used First Impressions painting service to remove our 1970s popcorn ceilings and then repaint the entire interior of our home. After working with Robert, Jean, and his team, and being extremely pleased with the outcome of their work, we easily and highly recommend them. Before deciding to use First Impressions we interviewed a total of six “highly rated” companies. There were two others who strongly contended, but after carefully considering everything, here’s why we chose First Impressions: Robert and Jean, owners, are very easy going, nice people. Robert is a hands-on owner with decades of experience. He’s calm, soft spoken, professional and polite, with an absolutely “no pressure” approach, answering questions confidently, because he’s done it all before. Removing our popcorn ceilings was not a routine job, unlike those popcorn ceilings that are easily removed in YouTube videos. Unknown to us, ours had been painted, and the paint had been mixed with the popcorn material before being sprayed on. It was as hard as plaster. It had to be scrape/chiseled/sanded off. Plus, in two places our ceilings are 14+ feet high with the popcorn material not only on the ceilings, but, also covering the descending walls too, down to eight feet from the floor. Despite this huge unanticipated difficulty requiring extra time and effort and extra drywall work, Robert and his team simply did a beautiful job offering no excuses or complaints, and not wanting to revise their price quote. Despite the unexpected difficulty of the popcorn ceilings, First Impressions painted our ceilings, high walls, trim and doors, following our detailed four-color scheme as we specified, making it no issue at all. Picking the paint and the colors was so easy. Robert told us to go where we wanted to pick our paint and colors. We love the way it turned out. Robert is a problem solver. He deals with unexpected issues as they arise, as good business owners must do. Proactivity aids in avoiding problems and improving outcomes, and the fact that First Impressions was the only company we interviewed that owned and used a Festool, a tool able to sand popcorn ceilings, extracting the dust, and thus, reduce the amount of dust left behind in the home after the work is done, is evidence of proactivity which benefits the customer. The last factor I’ll address as to why we’d recommend First Impressions is “value”. First Impressions was the last of six companies to walk-through our house and give us a price. After Robert left our house, and before he sent his price quote, my wife said what I had also been thinking: We liked him best. We liked his style, demeanor, his descriptions of how he’d do the work and what we could expect, confident timeframes, and uncomplicated simplicity. We hoped his price was “in the ballpark”. And, it was! We got the best job at the best price, and done with timeliness, which was important because we had to live in our travel trailer while First Impressions did their magic. First Impressions, thank you for the great job. We love it.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We give quality work for a valued price and only use the best of products to get the longest life span from the paint. We always try to give price breaks when we can. Pricing can also depend on how many rooms and what surfaces are being painted at one time.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Meeting with client for free estimate and making sure all involved are on the same page of what is expected of the contract work and the timely manner is should be completed.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Always, New products come out and I am updated with these products as they come in through my supplier. I also work close with my sales rep thru Sherwin Williams.
