    Homeland Secure IT has been the first place I call if I have any questions about my computers since I met John. They did a simple repair on my 8 year old Mac laptop, which had a broken charge port, and is now back up and running. The most important thing is that they were able to fix it right there in their office, and I picked it up later that day after running some errands. No shipping it off and trusting some stranger in the middle of nowhere! They charged $75 for the fix and John helped me find the elusive part I needed online. I would take all my Macs to them even before Apple.

    John and the team at Homeland are excellent. They are very professional and responsive to our needs. We have been working with John and his team even before they became Homeland Secure IT and moved with them to John's new company. We are a small company, but are unique in that 40% of our company travels internationally. Homeland maintains our network, keeping it up and running smoothly allowing our international travelers the connection they need to access email which is critical for them. We are very happy with our new server with virtual servers. At the time of the quote, they did not just suggest the most expensive option, but gave us several options that would fit our needs and let us decide the best option for us. In the end we chose the most expensive option because we felt that it would serve our needs the best. We highly recommend Homeland Secure IT for your computer needs.

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. Typical computer repair & server maintenance. Updates, viruses removed. Firewall updates, anti-spam solutions and licensing updates (sales of software)

Q. Describe three recent jobs you've completed.

A. A free estimate for a Mac owner who was very unhappy with their speed turned up a slight problem which we fixed for free.

A local business needed a virtualized server solution, with one physical server running 5 virtual Microsoft servers on it, with Exchange, applications, Remote Desktop.

We are assisting a large corporation in Greenville transition from their current domain to a new domain, moving emails, moving users.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Don't go for "cheap" - The old adage is absolutely true - "You get what you pay for".
While someone may charge 70 dollars per hour, it is very likely they will charge you for two or more hours when a competent technician would charge for a straight hour and you would have ended up paying less.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. We are professionals who will do the job right, at a fair price. We are trained and experienced, mature adults. And most importantly, we will be there for you. We won't leave you high and dry.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. Making a client smile by saving them money, providing them with the type of service I would want for myself, and providing the best products that are available!

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. It is not uncommon for Apple Mac owners to believe they are impervious to malware. Recently a man called with a slow Mac, and he was unable to send email. When he would try, he would get bounce messages from his ISP stating there was a problem, that he was blacklisted.

After several minutes of learning of his woes, I told him it sounded as though he had some malware that would likely sending email out and had gotten him blacklisted.

He threw a fit saying "Macs don't get viruses!" and hung up.

He called back a few days later to apologize. Another IT company found his malware. He's now a great client of our's.

Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.

A. We saved a non-profit (church) thousands of dollars by providing them special pricing on Microsoft and Symantec software, and switching them to a SIP trunk from old analog lines and a Voice over IP phone system.

They now have the latest technology, at a much lower rate!

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. We partner with every major company in our field, from Microsoft to Symantec, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Trend Micro, etc, etc. They provide us with training resources which we utilize to the fullest!

Q. What are the latest developments in your field? Are there any exciting things coming in the next few years or decade that will change your line of business?

A. As of this date, we are testing Microsoft Windows 8, which should be out by 3rd quarter of 2012. It offers a lot of great features and a beautiful new refresh.

Tablet computers continue to be a popular item and will continue to evolve.

Voice over IP phone systems are a hot commodity and they are beginning to drop in price.

Q. If you have a complicated pricing system for your service, please give all the details here.

A. Nothing complicated in pricing. We offer in-house labor (bring it to us and we will fix it) for 75/hr. That is the most economical way to get repairs on a computer, or even a server that you are able to move yourself.
For in-field, on site service, our standard rate is 125/hr, but if we work after hours, it will be more. For large jobs, we will adjust our rates downward.

Q. What is your greatest strength?

A. Relationships are our greatest strength. We form relationships with our clients so we know what their needs are, many times before they do. Relationships with our vendors, manufacturers and other companies in our industry allow us to know the products we offer inside and out, and should we encounter a problem, we can get support ourselves!

YES! We offer sales of tablet, notebook, laptop, ultrabook, and other forms of mobile computers.

We also repair / fix broken computers of all brands, including HP, Dell, Acer, Asus, Lenovo, Sony, Samsung, Toshiba, Nexlink, and more.

We can help you determine which type of mobile computer is right for you, and integrate it with your existing network or corporate infrastructure.

Need accessories? We offer bags, chargers, batteries, locking devices, tracking software, docking stations, even extended warranties in most cases.
